I had a few ideas for Quake Wars. Would this be the right way to submit them?

How about a download filter so you can choose not to download things like custom skins and sounds packs and useless server side files.

As is they have the pk3 file wich is just a zip file with a new name.

By making a couple other new zip file extension names you could create a simple download filter.

for example :pk3 for defualt game files then maybe an sk3 for skins on an ma3 for custom maps maybe cs3 for sound packs and maybe cw3 for a weapons mod

The zip file is nice cuz its all inclusive and the realy good news for mappers but for things like soundpacks server side files and skins id realy apreaciate a filter so I dont end up downloading everything the server has just to play 1 custom map.

Well official files are only included in patches and not downloaded off servers, and you already have the ability to choose not to download off a server… cl_allowdownload 0. As with custom maps, i’ve found it better just getting it off a website that relying on a server to get it… for a start it’s usually faster getting it off a website.

Just shutting off downloads would meen your not downloading anything. These are the guys that did wolfenstien enemy territory that had the badass option of downloading the files from your site at your sites download speed from the game with out even needing to disconnect or broswe or anything. This would just be an extra gui for people not digging custom skins and sounds etc… Gui’s are good cuz they make the game user friendly most newbs dont comprehend the common console commands where as browsing your gui’s is everyones way of getting to know what the game has to offer…

I figured if anyone on the team was intrested I could talk with them in more detail but I read on another topic that the team never visits so think thats the only one I’m gonna share.

I think the team does visit these forum,s quite often, but I think they have their instructions about what is gonna be in the game already, and won’t put in much from outsiders :frowning:
