I Gotta Ask

(Pegger) #1

How in the hell do you trick jump?

(pw50King) #2

Just strafe jump around

(Hanlon) #3

Sprint+forward+alternating strafes+jumping again as soon as you hit the ground+hitting slopes+bunny hopping motions while in the air=getting kicked by newbs who think you are on teh haxzorz

(meatbasher) #4

What’s a trick jump?

(kotkis) #5

You can see some trickjumping here ^^

(Danyboy) #6

the best description for a trick jump is:

When u Sprint, strafe and jump at same time - and if you land on ground lower than where you started from - you bounce again with a lot more speed.

Try sprinting + jumping down the road in gold rush just after the tank spawn position

Has anyone EVER used one of these to good effect. I just can’t see a practical use for any of them. OK some might get you into good spots but the time necessary and possibly the aid of a team mate also sorta render them rather daft, well as far as I can see, I could be wrong.

(Danyboy) #8

Some allow you to climb over walls etc - with another team mate, an engineer can jump the fueldump wall at certain places - saving the need for cvops to take uniform

([=O=]SMYLER) #9

Is it officially (as much as it can be) a trick jump though or are we just talking about a regular leg up.

(kotkis) #10

You can strafe jump over the old city wall. I think that this can be considered to be something useful. You can also save some seconds of time by doing strafe jumps when ever possible (for example in oasis you can do two or three bounces with allies and save about 5 secs of time in the beginning of the map).

Well there is always the hope you can get into some wacky spot, so the enemy will be to busy saying "WTF ? how did you get there? " to notice that the rest of your team is completing the objective.

I’m not sure it qualifies as a ‘trick jump’ but getting up the axis side of the river in fuel dump can be quite useful. Moving at mach speed can be pretty handy too.

Nah thats at the veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy most an oversight by the level designers and is possibly not even an oversight as the nazis would have it far too easy if all they had to do stay on their side of the river and maybe keep an eye on the tunnel to the side.

(Pegger) #13

OK, thanks to all who responded. I thought it had something to do with strafing, but unable to reproduce it everytime (due to level ground me thinks now).

Now that only leaves this question, just how the hell did he do http://darkangel.diesa.co.uk/demos/DARadarJump.dm_82 that? This is level ground.

BTW thats DarkangelUK, got the link from RTCWOnline forums.

Remind me not to jump from the balcony all the way down to the axis spawn exit on Goldrush with trick jumps… It must have looked hilarious to the axis leaving the base though

I was on the allies and was a little too much in a hurry to get the gold…

I see people trying to do regular bunny hopping, and I wonder why they are so stupid. It’s clearly disabled in ET. You can get speed boosts from jumping off inclines, but not regular bunny hopping. Thank god, I hate it.

(Kendle) #16

Wrong. I can cover ground faster bunny-hopping than I can running with sprint. It doesn’t work so well up-hill, and you can’t build up speed going downhill as much as you could in RTCW, but it still works pretty much the same.

Does it ever happen to you to sprint-jump down the slope in gold rush as allies and step on a TMs head? I managed to run almost all the slope staying over his head.

I tried to jump from his head to the terrace, but he turned left a little too soon. :frowning:
