hunkmegs for server

(macbeth) #1

so what is the best for ET servers with NQ 129 ?

+set hunkmegs
Use +set hunkmegs to control RAM-allowance. Be careful not to set it too high for your specs.
For example “+set hunkmegs 128” will assign 128mb ram to this server. Maximum RAM that ET can use is 192…or so I’ve heard.

You’ve at least 4 recent threads about it; NQ is the mod which requires the most a high hunkmegs value (I remember when I started playing, I wasn’t able to play Fuel Dump under NQ because of this…), so you can set the max.

(macbeth) #3

Mateos i mean the servers side not the players side

Macbeth, ever tried experimenting with options? use 128 megs and if that doesnt solve the problem you will have to lower/raise the setting.
(if you are sure that com_hunkmegs is causing you trouble) - but theoretically 110 should be enough…or 128…try a bit macbeth;)

(macbeth) #5

the problems is for guys who with nq 129, their game close w/o any error messages for them seems it is a times out
so i was wondering if to run less server hunkmegs will fix the problems
thanks you

Is it reproducable or does it happen randomly?
How much hunkmegs do you use now? If its more then 128 you should lower it down to 128 or 110…try it and if you can reproduce the problem you are perfectly able to narrow down the problem yourself (not ment to be rude;) ).

it was reproductable
i restarted one of our other server with only for the server side at hungmegs at 192
i will stay specing to see if my game close again
but like i posted it is not at all the players side but the server side
something like that
Command options details:
 +set vm_game 0 - The server starts without a virtual environment.
+set sv_pure 1 - Will ensure that people’s pk3s are the same as your servers.
+set dedicated 2 - The server announces itself to the master servers.
+net_port 27960 - The port on which the game server runs.
 +set sv_punkbuster 1 - Activates Anti-Cheat program.
+exec et.server.cfg - Executes the config file created earlier.
and exec hunkmeg 192

your server not will exec hunkmegs, you must use “+set hunkmegs *****”

(macbeth) #9

yes so for you what i need to set 128 or 192 ?

(nonoMapper) #10

Wasn’t it +set com_hunkmegs 128?

@Macbeth - you start the server with that option. On linux for example ./etded +set blabla +set com_hunkmegs 128

exact +set com_hunkmegs 128

But this need to be in command line if you put it into the server config will be latched

(Dr.JackaSS) #12

You can add it in Start script ^^

screen -A -m -d -S et ./etded +set fs_basepath /usr/path to folder +set fs_homepath /usr/path to folder +set vm_game 0 +set net_port 27960 +set fs_game jaymod +set omnibot_enable 1 +exec cfg name you want.cfg +set com_hunkmegs 1024 +set sv_punkbuster 0

if you want i can edit it for you and load it up

(nonoMapper) #13

Why not 2048…you never know -.-

Our clanserver with 32 slots is using +set com_hunkmegs 64 with no problems so far. You can check your hunks usage with /rcon meminfo.
