Hunk_allocateTempMemory

(YourFather_CZ) #1

If Wolf:ET is loading some maps like Star Gate, Noth Pole, etc. sometimes are generated errors like this: “Hunk_allocateTempMemory: failed on 262200”. Number “…failed on 262200” is changing with map.

Where is problem… in pack with map or in my hardware?

Thx

There’s nothing wrong. The game has a cvar called com_hunkMegs that defaults to 56 megabytes, but some maps need more than the default amount. Just bring down the console and type com_hunkMegs 128, that should be enough for any map.

Thanks…

This is interesting becouse in hunkusage date is wrote that nortpole use only 54954272 B = 52,4 MB.

I have another problem:

…any map cannot be loaded :frowning:

Why are you using spanish menus? Find the offending pk3 and remove it!

Isn’t this a server client mismatch problem?

I had to reinstall when I got the VM_Create error, but I’m not sure what it actually means.

-edit-

A quick Google check revealed the following:

“VM_Create on cgame” error can be caused by a memory error.

Either:

  1. Com_hunkmegs is set at a value that is greater than the available memory

  2. Virtual memory is set too low. (seems to be a linux specific issue, based on a sample of Google threads)

  3. Install has gone corrupt.

This option is this… :frowning: …i turned off Virtual Memory, becouse i have enought Fyzical Memory. I’m sad that i must enable VM…

Thx

BTW: i have Spanish menu, becouse i play on Spanish server (where it is needed) sometime.

BTW2: mi Wolf:ET has 2,35 GB and 988 files now (but there is a problem when i want create ETPro host game - ET.exe crash - i think that reason si “too many files” in etpro or etmain).
