Hunk_Allocate Temp Memory error????/

(eljae) #1

hi people, i have a rtcwet server. today my server crashed like 4 times??
i have just installed a new pk3 file, i created with song clips in it and uploaded it to the ftp for the server. since then i get the error message: Hunk_Allocate Temp Memory: Failed on ‘long number’ RE-Shutdown(0) Hunk llear:reset the hunk ok… does anyone know what this means exactly and how i can stop the server from crashing linke this??? :?
i think the new song files, when played by admins in commands is overloading the memory ram. i read that i might need to change the HunksMegs and lower the sound qulity, but how do i do that exactly? any help here will be appreciated thanks people
ps the version is 2.55 return to castle wolfenstien enemy territory and etpub 8.1

"C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\ET.exe” +set dedicated 1 +set com_hunkmegs 92

is the simple version

hi nail , thanks 4 the reply.
so i see set didicated is in my server.cfg and is set to ‘2’ at the moment, cos that for dedicated to internet, i dont understand what u say cos set ‘1’ means dedicated to lan? but if that will help m willing to try it.
also changing my clientside in ET.exe will that help the overall server?? but thanks, i surpse i can change my sound qaulity there?
plus ‘set com_hunkmegs 92’ and this line, does it go as coding in my server.cfg and exactly like that or slightly differently under set dedicated i server cfg.
sorry i an still abit new to all this coding and programming on servers. thanks 4 help, much appreciated…
still having crashes on my server, due to the same above reason :?

well i increased the hungmegs ie /rcon set com_hunkmegs 382, as 92 didnt seem to stop chrashes.
also changed the set dedicated to 1 from 2 in server.cfg.
the server nontheless kept crashing. i figured out that it was one of the new song clips (the biggest one 2.6mb) that was causing the server to crash i think. the server memory could handle all the other clips, only really abit smaller in mb but the 2.6mb caused the server memory to overload!!
so i deleted the link to that file in shrubbort and seems ok now. i can play 3 simultanious tracks and no crash?
so does anyone know why this 2.6mb clip wasent handled by the server, was is too big? or maybe corrupt, not sure???
but seems ok now. is there a maximum size onthe files the memory can handle, ie 2.5mb. i know that sound wav in stereo are not handled by server and should be in mono and 8 bit records, rather than 16bit is better and not higher than 16bit. is there anything else in size of sound clips that matters??? thanks 4 help
:?:

IIRC, hunkmegs cannot be changed in game. It has to be set on the command line.
