Hum.... Maybe SD SHOULD consider this....

Ok, after playing ET for about an hour this morning (I need my ET 3 Step patch now!!) I guess I’m starting to agree with these guys. The thompson sound has a certain punch to it, but it dosnt sound very powerful. Keep the rate of fire, I love it. But also, the thompson is SHINY!! WTF!! In the heat of battle a soldier is not giong to have a shiny weapon. The MP40 is ok, (I guess) but the thompson could use some work.

Never mind the damn sounds, it’s the fire rate that has the most effect on the game itself. Changing that is the #1 priority as far as far as I’m concerned.

(BoltyBoy) #3

I suspect the fire rates have been changed to balance al the weapons. If you change them to what you may like them to be this may give unfair disadvantages to the other classes/weapons.

(fundamental) #4

I have not problem of firing rates of any weapons, actually I think they are better. SMG sounds are the problem for me.

(skybuck) #5

God damn ! Let the wapen sounds be !

There is enough other work to do

(Noodles) #6

But the atmosphere is a big factor - and the current gun sounds don’t make the atomosphere that good :frowning:

(Rob SAS) #7

I kinda like the weapons, they are more realistic.

(Kermit) #8

lots of ppl complaining about lower rate of fire of some of the smg’s…tbh I’m ok with the rate being slower (maybe more realisitc).

I think the damage each weapon does needs a bit of adjustment cos I seem to be dying more often than in rtcw despite the lower rate of fire

oh and dflt spawn time (20secs I think) need upping a bit to at least 30secs as most ppl tend to respawn instead of hang on for a medic which takes away from the team effort principle (I guess the server admins can change this themselves, but just thought I’d mention it)

(fretn) #9

maybe some gun sounds, but the explosions rule !

I think the gun sounds are OK. Real pistol ammo does have a ‘pop’ sound. Different than wolf for sure, but not too bad.

Some of the vsays are definitly limp, and not nearly as clear as wolf.

Fire rates are fine with me. They are only a little slower than wolf. In wolf it took about 4 sec to empty a thompson clip. In et it takes about 4.8 (according to another poster, I haven’t tested it myself). Damage seems reasonable to me. Accoding to iffurtas page (http://www.kan.org/michael/RTCW/enemyterritory.htm), both the main smgs are 18 (body) / 40 (head)

the fg42 seemed kind of under powered to me, but it does more damage in scope mode, so maybe if I was a better sniper that would make up for it
