HUGE performance issues since last patch- game nearly unplayable

(Amerika) #21

:o that’s odd, your system specs?
i got: intel i5-3210M, amd 7670M, 8gb ram
and other ue3 engine games run just fine
i7 4770k OC’d to 4.6ghz, gtx780 (no OC) and I’m running the game at 1080p but I have all advanced options off or turned down except decals. I’m used to playing lego quake 3 so it’s habit to just turn everything down.

You should do what I suggested in another thread and run Open Hardware Monitor when you play and take note of your CPU temp and CPU speed and if it holds steady at one higher temp and whether it is running at max speed or not (probably not). If so that means that your CPU is most likely getting to a point where it starts throttling you and causing these issues (which then get alleviated when you restart the system or game). If that is the case you might want to look into alternative cooling solutions. DB likes to push your CPU a bit more than other UE games I’ve noticed but it scales REALLY well with overclocks.

If you can’t break 60fps it’s because you have Vsync turned on. Which is also probably causing you input lag as well.

Works better for me, around 200FPS

well i have ati radeon dual graphics and 12gb ram and just does’t manage to get more than 25 fps tried allmost every option but still 25 fps or less… o and running up hill… nope nope you cant do that its too lagy
The game is poorly optimised for AMD cpu’s right now. I don’t know if you mean you are running two cards in cf or an apu in hybrid cf. If its the former, disable cf. Almost all small/beta games have terrible crossfire and sli support. If its the latter you will just have to grin and bear it as db is currently very cpu heavy and apu’s have pretty lackluster performance.

7GB of RAM is actually just silly. running in anything but dual/triple/quad channel (whatever platform your cpu is built for) is going to slow down your RAM speeds and offset the advantage of the extra capacity. Same goes to you Jaakari, unless you are running a triple channel cpu 12GB of RAM is the wrong number.
well ehm ive ben little sick 12gb really is wrong it whas my memory ram  and ati dual graphics systems just little like boosts 2 graph cards and even prosessor helps whit their performace i’m not really sure how it works in reality

I’m gone for three weeks and now what has happened to my beautiful DirtyBomb? The matchmaking is now broken (it was fine during the last play-test weekend but now it refuses to search for NA servers) and the game crashes something fierce especially on maps with an EV. :’( Though the store and trade-in systems are a nice addition  Worry not @MissMurder I still enjoy it when it works and when it doesn’t I just reload and pray to the Gaming Gods

(artfulSedan) #25

yeah inoticed that i get put in either US or full servers when i use matchmaking.
But as long as there is a server browser ^^

(artfulSedan) #26

Lag is becoming worse, less on my part and more on theirs. In nearly everygame i have people shootign trough walls running at insane speeds, tele glitching or dodging bullets. It’s not fun to play against neo

I just bought this game yesterday, and i have massive frames drop and audio…

I don’t know what to do. I tried the fps config, all options low, still droping…

I have an alienware x17
16 gb
Ram gtx
780 m
i7 2,4 ghz

Can someone help… Because 20 € for not playing…

Sounds like your laptop either isn’t using the 780m and you need to go into your Nvidia control panel, find the dirty bomb executable and force it to always use the 780m or you are having CPU heat issues. The game is very CPU intensive and it’s been found out that a lot of people are having heat issues where the CPU gets hot enough that, laptops in particular, are clocking themselves down causing massive frame drops and stuttering. I have had three friends have this exact issue and I have seen it on the Steam forums as well. Funnily enough, all of my friends SWORE it couldn’t be a heat issue but they turned out to be wrong.

So hopefully it’s just Optimus using the built in video card as that is easier to resolve than the heat issue.

i fixed this by the way.

after setting this in my config my laptop only clocks down to 2ghz minimum, before it went to 1ghz and that was indeed causing that extreme frame drops. Seems to be the texture streaming settings
(oh and don’t try it with a “clean” config, everything will just go black xD)

also there should be coming an update today, which includes some performance fixes

(artfulSedan) #30

Update on the audio lag: it was probably my headset. Personal framerate is now okay and playable but otehr players now tend to telelag or simply dodge my bullets… but hey at least it’s fluid.

(watsyurdeal) #31

Not to be a dick butt if you guys wanna help the devs, don’t just post your specs, that doesn’t help much.

Research your issue, get some monitoring software to see what your cpu, gpu, and ram are doing while you play, monitor your fps, note where it dips and where it’s fine.

Me for example, I typically get dips when events happen on the map or when there’s a ton of players firing at once, which to me may mean the particle effects could be a bit cleaner. But that’s just me, I don’t know for sure, but I do know UDK shouldn’t be punishing our rigs this much. So something is definitely up, not sure where.

(Amerika) #32

The spikes I get are almost always tied to airstrikes and multiple people being hit and also certain maps that have exploding sections (like the train car). Which leads me to believe this is more of a physics issue and quite possibly server side for most of my lag spikes where the servers aren’t handling things too well. This is very similar to when CS:S launched and server hardware wasn’t handling the physics attached to objects very well on some maps.

Still massive drop… The only moment when i don’t have massiv drop is with all lodbias to 0… Lego games…

I’m with “High performance Nvidia” for Dirty bomb…

Tested also , what Humburg posted , not a single improvement…

I’m a little lost…

I have a 4 year old asus g74, with a gtx 550m, 12gb ram, and a i7 2.2ghz processor, with all settings on low I am getting 90 FPS @ 1280x720p.
I played for 3 hours with my laptop on Easter, and had no problems.

don’t know what your doing wrong, but something isn’t right with your set up

Download Open Hardware monitor and open it up. Then start playing the game until you get massive frame drops. Notice how hot your CPU is and if it’s clocking itself down to a speed that is well below specs. I’d wager heat is your issue and that utility can help you troubleshoot the issue.

(Sio) #36

i’m going to try it !

Edit : what i need to look when i play ?.. I never used it.

Temparatures ? for my i7 ? Gtx ?

(lapislazuliPark) #37

The biggest thing i’ve found when playing DirtyBomb is that it tanks my GPU and eventually crashes it. the thing is, is that it can happen after 2 hours of play or after 5 minutes so not sure. Running AMD Radeon r9 200 series GPU with 16gb RAM on a AMD 8350

(Sio) #38

I can play this game without any issus if i have the make very ugly…

Someone know the cvar to put the light on ? :stuck_out_tongue:

(impeccableAge) #39

I don’t know what’s causing it but since the last update I have to restart pretty much every map. With a tweaked config I run at around 250 fps. I can play 1 map fine, the next map slowly goes worse and worse until it stays in the range of 15 - 40 fps. In the downward curve to the lower fps range the audio stutter is just insane. Although stat FPS says .e.g. 120 fps it’s stutters like it’s 20 fps.

The issue also occurs with the default config.

HW: i5-4570K, 16GB ram, ATI R9 280X video card, ssd and windows 7 pro.

(DutchLM) #40

I’ve gotta bump this, I still have this problem when is there going to be a fix? The game is unplayable right now.
