Do you Windows 10 and have a second monitor and happen to be running any youtube videos or twitch streams on them or simply anything full screened? This is a constant issue with people on Win10 after the Anniversary update. I had never had any issues at all with any game until that update an I resolve it by simply closing my browser and turning off the screen. Everything plays with no lag spikes at all after that. Myself and others have reported it to MS and there is a new “creator’s update” coming that also is supposed to include some features to help gaming in general so maybe that will resolve it.
I’d get lag spikes in any MP game.
However, it’s a YMMV situation as not everyone has that issue or they will have similar issues caused by different problems. But it’s worth throwing out there.
Also, make sure you run something like Open Hardware Monitor or similar while playing and record your highest temps reached. A lot of time lag spikes are caused by a processor throttling itself down to prevent heat damage. It’s an extremely common issue and DB really likes to work processors hard.
Already made sure nothing extra is running, even turned off my antivirus and AMD apps. This only started happening after the EAC update. I know people reported it multiple times as well, but I’m just not sure if it was overlooked.
Already used OHM as well, and it’s not a hardware issue on my end. If it was, it would be highly coincidental that it started happening right after the EAC update. The freezing issue is a full on freeze rather than a lag spike like when Nexon’s anticheat was giving us problems. This freeze just stops all play for 1-2 seconds, sometimes more.
I’ll keep looking into it of course, but no luck so far as to what the problem truly is, other than the possibility that it’s EAC or something from one of the recent updates.
Hopefully… :(
Well, it’s not about whether or not you have applications open. It’s whether or not they are full screened on a second monitor. That’s what has been causing the issue for a ton of people ever since the Anniversary Update hit. Even a browser full screened but playing a video can have issues.
And OHM monitors temps and nothing else in regards to your hardware. You’re 100% positive that while you are playing you are not going above thermal thresholds for your particular processor? I know people who have an intel 3770 (example) that claim that everything is “fine” but they are hitting 85c+ while playing. Which is not fine even if it’s below thermal damage thresholds. And I know tons of people with AMD procs that end up going above 65c which IS the damage threshold for many of those processors (depends on which series you own). I’m just wanting to make sure you aren’t breezing over that as a particular issue. Coincidences do happen as do multiple causes for the same symptoms.
