I have read descriptions of “bani” and “shrub” mods (no clue what this means), describing pushing door blockers. I just played Oasis as a medic, ended up shooting a door blocker, then reviving him. There’s got to be a better way. Is this a mod included only in some servers, or a function I can download?

these are server side mods which enable extra settings to be placed when playing ET. the server has to have them enabled, and not only does the mod have to be installed, but the “shoving” feature has to be enabled. on a shrub/bani server with this enabled, just hold use when you run into the person and it will shove them out of the way. sometimes it will make you use a key bound to “salute”, so maybe bind your use key to it by doing:
bind X “activate; +salute”
i’m not sure about my code, as i haven’t tested it, but it should be somewhere along those lines.
good luck, and of course, if you have version 1.02, there’s no hope of finding servers which have shrub/bani on them, because it doesn’t exist for them.
With bani mod you don’t need to bind it, it’s an extra function of your use key. Simply “use” the annoying git and you send him flying.
I’ve never actually seen shrub use this yet. I guess it’s there, but every shrub server I’ve played on so far I haven’t been able to shove with my use key.
Does anyone know if the Shrub +salute behaves the same way as in RtCW, where if you enter it in the console you will push constantly - even when fallen (but not gibbed)?
It’s a pain in the ass to revive people with that set, and also annoying when you try to gib them with the knife. And most of them don’t seem to realise it themself, they were just told that it’s +salute and then entered “/+salute” in the console. :disgust:
IMHO +salute should never have been added to Shrub/ET. :moo:
And is the shrub shove still really powerful? I remember we were messing around on a RTCW EFG game and I managed to shove goose from the upper open area between the radars all way over to near the first radar

otherwise, a bullet to the side of the offending numb-nuts usually wakes them up enough to move arround… a warning shot cross their port bow, if u will…

Ah, the old shoot them technique. A great technique with just two drawbacks. 1) They are already causing trouble by door blocking, chances are they have no qualms about TKing you. 2) They are already causing trouble by door blocking, chances are they have no qualms about TKing you. If you shoot them, then revive them as a Medic, they seem to forgive you. No one has ever tried to TK me in that situation.
Sometimes people inadvertently doorblock when they decide to type something as they’re going through the doorway. Although in this case using the Move! voice command is usually sufficient.

If a mod isn’t installed, yelling ‘move’ before giving them a gentle stab in the back usually helps. With the ‘move’ voice I usually don’t get TK’ed…
How can it be that I played on a schrub or ETPro server while I have v1.02 isntalled (since day one)?
is there a beta out somewhere with updated netcode?
Some people ran 2.56/1.02 servers with the old versions of etpro and shrub, but there are incompatibilities that cause strange things to happen when this is done, so servers that did this ended up looking kind of empty.
I know that etpro has had 2.56-compatible betas in testing since a couple of days after the release, and it looks like shrubmod has a 2.56-compatible beta in testing as well.
Screw all that. Shoot the putz if he’s blocking the doorway. It’s faster.
