is there a tutorial somewhere i can look up on how to make one?

I think you can find tutorials to help you clearing your HUD, making your own demo config (to make the game as beautiful as possible), but I doubt you’ll ever find a tutorial to make your whole fragmovie, because it’s pretty simple : download a videomaking app : sony vegas is very simple to use for exemple, fraps which will permit you to record your footages, then choose your music and here you go :slight_smile:

Not that simple. See Kordin video, for sure its a LOT of work to make all the editing, third person records, etc…

Like Chris, i dont like frag movies, for me they are all boring. But lets face it, some are putting lots of effort in make top quality frag movies, at least in the technical part of it (top only in technical because for ME a frag movie cannot be top in terms of interest).

There are only tutorials how to handle all the different video editing programs. Go for Sony Vegas which is quite beginner friendly.

May I ask, what is for you and Chris a good movie in a shooter where only kills matter?
A movie about the landscape of Island? :confused:

Impossible to find a tutorial about how to make a frag movie (it’s all editor dependent on what happens) but you can find tutorials about how to do different effects (even though they’re usually use COD/CS/CS:S footage it’s all the same idea). As people have said, start with Sony Vegas as it’s really user friendly but can still get amazing results. This guy has some videos made exclusively in Sony Vegas, and make me go “WTF, how!?” and this guy has some good Sony Vegas tutorials which have helped me.

You have many ETQW videos that the main is not frag.

Movies that don’t just contain one or two opponents, cant be helped now but still.

Movies where kill streaks aren’t mainly made up of frag steals, reload/healing frags, back rape and such, congrats you got lucky…

Movies that take forever to show one streak, either speed the bits up where you do jack all or just leave it out, I dont care if someone got 8 kills over 5 minutes.

Movies that show a diverse range of skills, team movies tend to be better for this reason, sniper only movies and such get boring after first few frags.

Movies with some fails, players/teams who can laugh at themselves instead of being super serious all time I find are better, more human blah blah and such

Movies that show off the landscape of the map, wait what?

Wow, your expectations might be highest within the QW scene. If you compare QW to another popular scene, it stays far behind for different reasons. But still there are some really good movies.
Just for interest, can you name some examples apart from “7 of a kind” which suit to your description?

7 of a kind was nice yeah, also one hannes did for dignitas/mamut was pretty cool also, forget name.

There have been some nicely edited movies for sure, not denying that.

“Montage” is the way to go. Mamut.si, nkm’s sniper movie, and 7ofakind are really the only frag movies worth mentioning. 4 years ago etqw was “dead” and now it’s even more so. Montages only take about 30mins to make and don’t need too much effects, but if you really want to spend a lot of time on a “frag movie” (meaning higher quality edit) it’s totally fine. I just personally wouldn’t put in all the time when only 20 people are going to watch it, but the point being you can do whatever you want and it’s not a big deal now.

In response to the post though, I think he just wants to know how to record and then edit. Xfire video (while viewing a demo)+windows movie maker is good enough.

That because that’s what it was :wink:. 5 minutes to drop clips onto music, aka montage. I had 2 real “frag movies” that I abandoned a few years back, which involved a lot of effects/syncing, mostly because the game was too dead for them to be worth finishing. The days of srs bznz frag movies are long past, which I think is what Chris was suggesting.

Im agree with Inferno, in very simple way you need just Fraps (or Xfire whatever) and Windows Movie maker. If u want to add some special effects, and in general make frag movie exitining, you got to use programs like After Effects or Sony Vegas.

As any tutorials, i dont think so :rolleyes: You can find tutorial how to add some effects to your movie and etc. Thats all! Count on it :wink:
