How to improve accuracy ?

(yenku) #1

hello gentlemen, I’m not happy with my accuracy so, I’m looking for some help.

Mouse is ok, Logitech G502, 800dpi, no accelerations etc etc.

I’m not sure about sensitivity. That’s actually 5; FOV 70
I’d lower a bit but, it then get harder to quickly move when there is more than 1 enemy.

I’m not that bad, I mean, I’m not great either but I feel like sometimes (often :p) I miss and die too much.
Different merc speed does not help.

Any tips ?

Definitely no acceleration? Windows has its own input that needs to be disabled using an external program.

Typically lower your sensitivity until you feel that you can still move your crosshair well, but still have enough control at the same time. Also a large mouse pad does wonders.

Also, gotta say that 400 DPI will work just as well as 800. But that’s down to you.

To be honest it really comes down to just practising with whatever sens you think you can control.

Play Vassili. I noticed that now that I gave sniping a go, it’s so much easier to hit heads with anything else, lol

(AlphaUT) #5

If you can play sniper well and kill people with headshot, you will have no problem to play other guns, I mean, after all, it is just all about skill level and game experience

(ImSploosh) #6

This is so true, even though I essentially “drag shot” with Vassili (which I think is needed at close ranges because quickscoping is not completely possible due to the randomization of the scope crosshair). I’ve noticed my aim increase a lot. But rather than Vassili, I suggest using Redeye’s Grandeur or the Dreiss, hipfire. Turn on the full crosshair and pay attention to your spread. When I started using both of those guns, I noticed that my patience and timing when killing was so much better and therefore my headshots also increased!

The best advice I can give is that when you play don’t just zone out. Try to learn what you’re doing right and what you’re doing wrong and then repeat the rights and reduce the wrongs. Time spent working towards a goal is always better than simply time spent playing. Watch how other people play who are successful and then try to replicate what they do helps to fill in the blanks quicker as well. And since this is aim related you might even record a video of you playing for a while and post it. You might just have some bad habits that you don’t know you have.

Wait what? Link to this please? @LifeupOmega

I am pretty sure almost every modern game ignores windows accel and simply uses raw input (along with w/e settings it has for the mouse). Also, gaming mouse software removes it as well.

  1. Lower your sensitivity and dpi
  2. Max your FOV. It helps with close combat.
  3. Never use mouse accel
  4. Practice.

(KattiValk) #11

Practice is key. You could also try some less forgiving weapons like the Dreiss and Grandeur to teach yourself how to calmly line up the enemy.

Another thing is to consider how you view your target. Do you instinctively begin to line up their head upon seeing them? You should always look to putting all of your fire on the upper chest, neck, and face.

144hz monitor m8.

Got mine yesterday, 60hz looks absolutely terrible and choppy now.

Dropped 6 100+ games yesterday cause of it.
However, you have to be a decent player before you gain large benefit out of it.
If you’re a bad player and you play on a 144hz monitor, it will look smoother, but wont make you better.

(Amerika) #13

Heh, it’s hilarious how you don’t realize how much you gain in smoothness with a 120/144hz monitor until you have used one for a little while. I’ve had mine reset to 60 a few times and at first I can’t figure out why my game looks/feels so choppy despite my FPS. Then I remember.

Having a low input lag monitor is more important though and it’s something most people don’t know about and few companies advertise it. Display Lag and other sites help you figure it out though. And no, it’s not the advertised 1ms or 2ms you see on the box. That’s grey2grey and has nothing to do with input latency. I have a 27" Asus 144hz monitor that has an input latency of 6.5ms when it’s set to 144hz. I have a second 27" Asus 60hz monitor that is 17ms input latency that I don’t use for gaming (17ms isn’t bad though). Most Asus or Benq monitors are pretty good for input latency.

But, as @N8o said, it’s one of those things that won’t turn you into a great player or prevent you from being one. It’s just a nice thing to have.

(ImSploosh) #14

This is some of the best advice you’ll ever get.

I find that if I’m working to complete a mission, I do a lot better than if I’m just running around “playing” the game. Hell, the game’s always more fun when I’m trying to do a mission!

(pumpkinmeerkat) #15

Windows acceleration fix.

Don’t forget, 144hz is only great if your PC can maintain high FPS.

Pretty much every modern game ignores windows mouse accel and instead uses the mouse raw input + whatever the games engine has set. Also, 3rd party gaming mouse software also nukes it.

I am fairly certain you don’t need this for Dirty Bomb even if you don’t have gaming mouse software installed. But correct me if I am wrong.

Apparently according to people like @APRenpsy Dirty Bomb does not ignore it.

Many games today are cross-platform and have shoddy PC ports. There is no rule as to how bad mouse controls can be, even in FPS games. AFAIK Fallout 4 has mouse acceleration that has to be disabled in an .ini file.

Doesn’t apply to DB since it’s PC only.
