How to Carry?

(bubblesKeyboard) #1

Sorry I’ve been away for a long time so I don’t know if this was asked but it’s a serious question. Whenever I’m on min level 10 servers are empty so when I get put in a match I get a bunch of (lets be real) incompetents on my team. Not trying to bash them or anything, but I want to know if anyone has figured out the most effective way to carry a team.

I used to run Sparks and just farm xp through revives because my teammates die by the dozens but I don’t really feel its effective because I’m not directly contributing and at the end of the day my teammates will die and a horde of 6 enemies will rush me.

Now I run Phoenix because he’s the best merc to stay alive IMO. The dilemma with medic vs ammo merc is that if I run ammo, there is usually no medic so my game play consists of taking our 3-4 enemies and then running behind a corner and waiting for health regen to do its thing. If I run medic then I have to run to ammo caches every few kills because Skyhammers rarely drop ammo. I stuck with Phoenix because I feel like ammo regen from cache is faster than health regen. Also, the majority of the team runs slayer mercs so medic kind of balances me out.

However I find myself with my team dead and in a situation where I’m rushed by 2-3 mercs at a time. In this situation I’m usually forced to retreat but that doesn’t really help me carry either.

For those who know what I’m talking about, what strategies do you employ and what merc do you use?

Play Engineer, always remember only you can get shit done. Works every time.

Pick one medic one engineer and on artillery and select which one would fill in the week spot at the current moment

Step 1. Know how to aim
Step 2. Shoot dudes
Top score every game, ez.

To answer your question, I will just say Vassili, since the fact that a great Vassili can wipe out a team so easily, but you do need to aim really well.

Either get really amazing at killing, be a highly effective medic, or a spooky-scary stealth planter.

(KattiValk) #7

Kill everyone on the enemy team. Medics are force multipliers, but if you’re multiplying a pile of terrible players, you don’t really get anywhere.
a spooky-scary stealth planter.
I like stealth planters. They give off such a load “beep boop beep” or “vrrrrrrrrr” and die so quickly because they never expect an entry nade to the face.

Use them as meat shields and cannon fodder, hide behind them with fragger and then mow down the enemy as they shoot at your meat shields.

  1. pick up that thing that you want to carry
  2. carry it
    isnt that simple !

(BananaSlug) #10

being good medic with noobs is useless, because its just feeding the meat shield
and spoky scary ninja plants are bad too because even if you do it, you wont defend it by yourself

(Yes) #11

Play Kira.

(LoliGagging) #12

Fletcher

How to carry:

  1. Go to a gym for many weeks and get ripped
  2. Improve aim
  3. Play Fletcher always
  4. ???
  5. Profit

If you follow these easy steps you’ll be able to carry any team or even both teams at the same time(and look sexy AF while doing so) guaranteed!

And this, my friend, is why you will never be able to carry. A good player never does what you just described, he presses K when the spawntimer hits 1 to save time and get back into action with full health and ammo. When the spawntimer is ~10 he will go super aggressive and push deep into the enemy, deals as much damage as possible and dies before the spawntime.

This also applies to your enemy timer. Try not to kill the enemy if they can respawn in 1 second, delay the fight couple seconds and ensure your enemy will have to wait full 25 seconds spectating his teammates.

Another thing you need to learn is spawnkilling. For example if you are attacking Bridge final objective, I usually try not to rush into the middle room like everyone else, I wait for a bunch of enemies to get killed by team, time a perfect grenade and blow them up right as they spawn. Don’t allow the enemy team get reinforcements.

I tend to go as a killing class and shadow a friendly engineer and protect them. use chat to tell them to go for objective, get in their way when they stray or let them die. they will learn that you are their bodyguard.

Nader is my favourite but im starting to enjoy fragger a bit more now too.
