How players die

(Got-JuicE) #1

Hey i’m just wondering when you kill somone do they all die the same, like the same motion where they just fall and die, if so ragdoll motions wud be soo sick, like in cs:source, if they added that into the game, it would be alot better, beacuse I enjoy watching the bodies fly from nades or just how the body parts swing aroudn when geting shot. What does everyone else think, and if they didn’t alrdy add this into the game, would they have to change alot of stuff in the game to have this?

You know whats sick me on Sunday after a big drinking session, then deciding it’d be a great idea to get a big greasy burger and chip. It didn’t stay down for long…

i was reading about this earlier in another forum, and what was said is that the death animations have to be somewhat standardized so the medics know who to revive (ex. you’re on you back gasping for air)

what i want to know is if you get blown up by a rocket / fall out of a plane, can a medic still revive you?

Judging from the vids I’ve seen, it looks like there’s no ragdoll, just the usual death animations.

There are quite a few reasons I can think of why they’d do this. Firstly because you could potentially be revived, so rather than a medic reviving a lifeless ragdoll - coughcoughBF2 - I think it’s better for a wounded player to be moving about and so on.

Also, I haven’t yet seen anything that can convincingly blend from a ragdoll back to a set pose.

I guess it also cuts down the amount physics data that would need to be sent back and forth.

Hopefully the way the animations are handled are good enough that you won’t see people lying down with their heads going through walls, or floating on top of sloped ground. In Call of Duty 2 they dealt with this by having some simple collision detection for corpses, and allowing the bodies to rest at the correct angle on slopes. They also did something similar in Halo I think, something to do with inverse kinematics?

How would the medics get confused, if your dead and not coming back you wont move at all, and if you can be revived then the body would be moving in the ground, so you know that he can be revived, or even to put n icon over the guys who can be brought back to live.
Its not like its a big deal, but it just makes things alot more fun when everytime somone dies they land differently instead of them falling the same way everytime.

Another thing I was thinking if they could just make ragdoll motion of the people who are acauly dead and for people who can be reviv, they shud land the same way.
What does everyone think?

I think it’s a waste of time to even discuss it, you want bells and whistles, go buy bells and whistles

(thewonderfulcar) #7

yeah, that would probably work. No idea if that is what they’ve done though.

Nail I was just wondering, its not a big deal, and i’m not making a big deal about this even itf it’s not included in the game I just thought it woud look cool to see the bodies realistic like that, but either way this game is gonna own.
And if you think its a waste of time to discus why even bother to post?

(Nail) #9

I’m trying to discourage “This would look cool” posts

(bobjones) #10

waste of time to you maybe…but couln’t 90% of all conversation about ET be a waste of time at this point?

and i’ll bring up the age old respone as well
if you don’t like the thread, ignore it. easy as that.

Hah! Noob!
I had already asked the same stupid questions, without using the stupidass word “sick” way before:

This isn’t sick, it’s severed testicles!

What does everyone else think ?

was asked twice, I answered

btw, question was about QW not ET

I think this would look cool.
