How many people cancel Job on the Side?

(Grave_Knight) #41

I understand you disagree with our views about this mission, however do you have to have such a negative attitude about it?

(Aazhyd) #42

Since the elevator was fixed, I always skip this one. Competitive too.

(Jurmabones) #43

I play Bushwhacker a lot these days so I keep it. I don’t find it too hard to finish in a match or two of stopwatch. Though even without the elevator bug, Underground is still the way to go.

(xzez) #44

Job on the side is a synonym for “get attacker on underground”. Most other maps I’d be lucky if I can complete one secondary. The worst part is that defusing C4 on a secondary doesn’t even count. This mission is definitely a poison of the game.

(Awesom-0) #45

I cancel them all now since they can’t be done in elevators. Most decent teams don’t worry about secondary objectives on most maps except chapel and some other I forget the name.

Replace it with better objectives like 15 kills in a game. Decent players get all objectives in 3 games. Unless its win a comp match where this dumb balance puts you against cobalt when you are silver 1 because you played against hackers when there was no anti cheat.

I’d like comp reset. Mine seems stuck when I win 4 games in a row and in the top 2 always. Still silver 1. But thats another story.

Guess this is just a objective that makes you be some other class that hurts the team because you don’t play it. Should not be forced to play a class. Switch it with 15 kills\assists can be done with any class.

(Kouken) #46

Always cancel, its just too inconsistent. Every other contract can be done in 1-2 matches
Secondary objectives depend on map and which side you are and is just to inefficient .

(Awesom-0) #47

And to add to that team play should force what class you play if they need like a medic and no one will be one…

Objectives just make people join a game to do that for unlocks. I love unlocks but when you mess up a team for them… Yeah, hurts a team play game. Don’t force people into classes to do things that don’t matter and they are not good at that class. And I want more variety from the objectives make them hard but stay classes. If for example I need Aura in my well, merc choosing of 3, its not a squad… I always keep her there. But I get 15 kills easy or add something like revive someone when you are not a healer one time. Which is often a bad idea but you do it once a game for like a medic who helped you.

More variety in the objectives but not stupid secondary when people just try to complete them and not win.

Sorry for the double post.

P.S. Miss murder message me

(FilterDecay) #48

I canceled it and then… It gave it to me again. :frowning: So now Im doing it.

(Grave_Knight) #49

Looks like about 3/4th of the player base dislike this mission. Granted a sample group of merely 100 is hardly conclusive (and admittedly I should have added a third choice).

(Jurmabones) #50

Way I look at it is, you got 3 hours to do it. It’s not that hard to get 4-6 secondary objectives in that time. Might as well take your free 500/750/1000 credits.

(Grave_Knight) #51

Seems the big problem here is that not everyone does Engineering things coupled with that the secondary objectives don’t always count and only dealing with them in the proper Engineer fashion counts. People have already reported merely blowing up a generator (with bullets and bombs [not counting C4]) doesn’t count; and as I’ve said the ones in Underground didn’t count when I blew them up, yet people have said it has counted.

Very least it should be taken off, if only temporarily. Re-add it when all methods work and it’s relatively bug free (that should include the forward spawn station in Terminal).

I think they can probably tell from their in-game statistics how often it’s canceled or how long it generally takes people to complete it. They said in the recent stream that they were looking at tweaking this mission type (don’t recall verbatim, but…), so at least it’s being looked at.

I always cancel the crap out of it. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Plus, no engie’s are free and I’ve never bought one, and engie’s always beat me to the punch so… There’s not a whole lot of point to it.

Yeah but there is always an Engineer in rotation; so there is at least that.

(Dirmagnos) #54

I obviously doable in 3 hours. Problem is that most of other missions, even high level ones, can be done in an hour, hour and a half.
Its not that much about possibility, but rather about difficulty and the fact that completion of this mission relies a lot of luck, rather than effort.

(Monty) #55

I hate the competetive missions, but those can be finished. Even the 750 credit worth that requires you to win one competetive game. (Well, I usually cancel that mission, but it can be done.)

But as for these Job on the Side missions. I always cancel them. The moment I see one, I cancel it. The reason is simple, I will never finish them. It is a terrible mission.

But it could be different, if any completion of a side objective counted towards meeting the requirements. Ergo, if there is a back and forth with the side doors in the Underground maps, every time one of the doors gets blown up, or fixed, it would count towards the mission requirements.

Even better if completion of all objectives would count towards meeting the goal. For example, when EV is finally stopped or repaired. When datacores or drug samples are returned or succesfully stolen. There would be so many ways to finish that mission, and it would be fun to do it. No need to go for specific map, or to ‘ignore’ your team as you try to rush the side objectives for yourself.

I realize compared to other missions it can potentially take a bit more time. The thing is though, you have up to 3 hours to do it, so it doesn’t matter if it tends to take longer than other missions because you still have plenty of time to complete it. The only reason to get rid of it is if the mission refill timer is about to hit and you don’t have enough progress to complete it in the next match you join. So yeah, it takes longer than others, but it’s still easily completed in one mission cycle. I play a lot of bushwhacker though, so at least for me I don’t need to play different just to complete it.

For the record I think it’s a dumb mission because only certain maps really offer many secondary objectives, but I still do it because 3 hours makes it so I don’t have to play specifically to complete it, I can get it done through regular gameplay. And more credits=more free mercs and loadouts.
