how good is this game and what class is the best???
I would recommend to read W:ET 4 Newbies: New to the game. There’s no shame in being new to a game, and those pages describe it properly.
Have fun!
Spectator. He can go everywhere he wants to.
Seriously, I can’t say. There is no “best class” in W:ET (well, except for the slight advantage the medic class has) but all classes can and must be used to complete an objective.
Try out all classes. Learn to know the maps. After that, see for yourself what classes you mostly pick to complete an objective and try to get better using it.
you guys are being way to nice.
I would have answered that the game goodness for this game goes all the way to 11, and that the best class is the one that has all those weapons and stuff.
But taking a cue from your book on being nice on the internet to the people who sound n00bish or immature…
I’d say that a good strogg medic is the best asset a Strogg team can have. It’s worth mentioning that a class by itself has no strengths. What makes a good player is “knowing all the ropes” of the map…
Where the enemy is coming from, knowing how long ago they respawned, who’s who, being aware of the minimap, and which routes they’re taking… Then of course one has to know the intricacies of each weapon for a particular class, and taking advantage of the upgrades.
Mechanics of the game change so much. For example, a good leveled up engie can build the EMP in fraction of the time in the third map rotation, than what it would take him in the first one. This then forces the strogg to spend a lot more time defending indoor, and really makes you think whether you have the luxury of playing “for fun” and sniping or harrasing the GDF, or simply getting to the inside where you’re supposed to be.
It’s a very involving game that does take some time to learn, but the payoff is great. I haven’t even mentioned vehicles…
there is no “best” class, they all serve their purpose and are fun to play. in that way QW is really awesome. i want to extend this by saying that there’s also no team that i’d favor. in ET i preferred to play the attacking team. QW is different, i really enjoy playing both attacking and defending.
Hi croutanz!
I seriously cannot say which class is my personal favorite, since there is soooo much FUN to do, for each class. For example (but not limited to) these actions:
GDF
Soldier: Sneaking up on the enemy with the machine gun. Awesome firepower and very lethal.
Medic: Deploying an ammo n medic crate at a good location. The evil stroggies will nade it, if it placed in a bad place.
Engineer: Tossing mines on the legs of a Cyclops and drop a nade at its feet.
Field Ops: Feeding ammo to my lead scattering team mates.
Covert Ops: Thrashing the enemy with the 3rd eye camera.
Strogg
Aggressor: Putting the Obliterator to good use.
Technician: Building spawnhosts.
Constructor: Deploying turrets, repairing stuff.
Oppressor: Putting some plasma mortars on the human’s tank.
Infiltrator: Flying drone kills.

I think you guys covered most of it, but it’s also worth mentioning that the classes on both sides are pretty balanced out. When I first started playing the QW beta, I didn’t really like playing Soldier or Covert ops. Plus I felt like the Hyperblaster > GPMG and the Flyer Drone > Third Eye…
However, after a few weeks of playing, I figured out that the huge ammo supply of the GPMG, and firing it with iron-sights will rack up your kills indoors. The Third Eye Camera does a ludicrous amount of damage, 1 hit disables a deployable and there’s been more than one occasion where I manage to land it on a zooming Hog that tries to run me over, then I blow it away in 1 hit. And planting the HE/Plasma Charge in odd places is fun as hell! I’ve gotten 4 enemy kills on a single bombing before, planted in that room outside the South Sewer grate room where GDF tend to gather.
In generally, the team will always need Engineers and Medics. They’re good in pretty much any situation, though weak at anti-vehicle on their own. Field Ops are alright, and can still contribute with ammo refill + grenade spam indoors, but they definitely lose their main strengths in the last half of most maps (well, at least we know Valley, Sewer, Island and Ark shift to indoors for the end).
I would say that the engineer is the most played class in the game. Not necessarily the best but a lot of people like that class. As a result a lot of other classes are neglected and the gameplay suffers when it happens. There really isn’t a best class so if you looking for something to go into the game and own people (like an overpowered or unbalanced weapon) forget about it.
