I find that driving through extremely densely populated areas makes going 50km/h feel really fast, it’s then 100/120 on the highway that makes it feel like I’m driving really slow.
The same goes for video games.

I’ve played the game and its probably somewhere between medium and fast however the possibility of a 20 second re-spawn time slows it down quite a bit.
No no, it doesn’t take 20 seconds to respawn (well it can…)… There is a cycle that continues around every 20 seconds. If you die and the cycle is up to 19, then your spawn time is only 1 second. If you die and it’s up to 0, your spawn time is 20 seconds.
Hmm, game pace is difficult to tell as long as you haven’t played it on your own. Though I liked the pace of ETQW very much and I guess it will be very similar in Brink.
There’ll probably also be a window to respawn in, like in ETQW, so the potential respawn time can be reduced to 18 seconds or so if you’re paying attention.
huh? You’re not talking about the buffer they give you so if you slash kill one second past the timer you still respawn are you?
Yeah I do. That buffer slightly lowers respawn time, for the sake of lessening the frustration.
i see why you ask this. I personally think call of duty has no action except campaign. I want a game that there is always a bullet flying, explosion, yelling, death, non stop firing action.
I don’t understand the fascination with hyper speed FPS. Give me a game that I can be a bit more methodical with. Let me plan out some actions instead of just whizzing forward to my death. Quake 3 speed is too fast.
…But COD is too slow. You can’t run away. It’s whoever has the twitchiest wrist wins, especially with their one hit kills stuff…
ETQW’s speed seems to be perfect then
But frankly I dont really see the relation beetween speed and “time to think” or “being methodical” stuff… As Lyndon pointed out there are slower games that are more “rush to your death” kind of stuff than Q3, at least with high speed you can escape and get out of the action to plan another approach, with instakill slow game you just get camped everytime and have no time for anything as one bullet and dang… you’re dead.
Peace
I would love to see a fast pace game like SOF2 where you can hop around and move fast if you want to…
I rather see tactics becoming prevalent. Fast moving means a more forgiving game as your location matters less.
And a slow game gives a bigger window of opportunity to complete a certain objective if you happen to kill the enemy off one area(luck has a bigger part in the outcome).
Fast games mean that you have to be constantly pushing the enemy in order to control the objective.
I dunno 'bout everyone else, but i rofl at those camper kinds. They hug hills and bumps and hide themselves behind bushes. Sure it’s tactic, but a defensive game is as boring as watching paint dry. I rather be the one(few) people to actually make the diff on attack(have you ever won a 8v8-12v12 game in etqw by yourself, i mean like being in a team full of noob. The rush you get from raping the odds is immense), even if i’m failing i’ll learn new stuff, not just pound exp.
There’s no point in camping when the game is objective based now is there?
Which means that your kills and deaths matter more (not your K/D ratio, but the importance of each individual kill and death), which makes the game far more tense.

Yes… that’s my usual ETQW experience.
No one with a brain is whizzing forward to his death in high speed games like Quake 3.
Playing an fast paced shooter, a child might concentrate only on kills.
But a skilled player would try to take advantage of his surroundings, gamesounds, timing ect,
while manipulating and outsmarting his opponant. Same as in every game.
And DM does not count, that’s just warm-up
Anyway, Brink doesn’t have to be high speed as far as I’m concerned.
Just a tad faster then etqw would be nice.
