Probably because it feels out of place for Dirty Bomb’s style of play, feels like it exists only to compete with Counter Strike (which arguably does it better due to the whole economy system), and the time spent could have gone towards other things. Like trading, and more maps like Dome…ohhhhhhh Dome.
I really don’t think Execution is out of place for Dirty Bomb. It brings another gametype to play rather than only one gametype stopwatch/objective (which essentially is the same gametype and maps).
In execution the teamplay mechanics are pretty much the same and medics and fire support are even more important as you need to stay alive at all costs.
I don’t think the intention was to compete with Counter Strike. Let’s face it no FPS can take over such a heavily supported esport game which exists since forever. It’s more about giving something else to the players especially those who normally play that sort of gametype on other games.
However compared to other games (CS, S&D in CoD series, etc.) Execution brings more elements to the table in particular with the movement and the interaction between the players (medics and fire support especially).
The ecomony system from CS:GO can bring a different aspect in terms of strategy but I’m not a fan, and not having it in DB actually saves us from having people who eco their guns and such, we avoid all the camping and people playing safe to keep their guns when they’re outnumbered. It’s actually a great thing that Dirty Bomb doesn’t have an economy system like CS in Execution.
I’m happy that I can now enjoy a few games of objective/stopwatch and then a few games of execution before going into a competitive. The game feels less repetitive and has more variety.
I suppose but the one death per round and the fact that it’s basically just Objective but round based, I feel like it’s just…there. I feel like we could have done just fine with more maps or modes that better fit the style of shooter that Dirty Bomb is.
Like Headquarters for example, where a random point would spawn and you’d have to get there to control it. KOTH basically, but the team who catches it stops spawning, they have to hold it as long as possible until they all go down, this way it’s not a clean win. TF2 had KOTH but that just became DM and the team who had the point had no reason to stay there once they had it.
Or hell, give us CTF or something.
I just feel like Execution just pales in comparison, if people wanted to play the game mode they’d probably just go play Counter Strike. The audience for Dirty Bomb is the Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, Quake, Battlefield, and TF2 crowd, so it feels like we should be looking for game modes that fit that taste. Just my opinion.

I haven’t met any CSGO players yet besides you.
