How does everyone feel about all the CSGO players joining in?

Probably because it feels out of place for Dirty Bomb’s style of play, feels like it exists only to compete with Counter Strike (which arguably does it better due to the whole economy system), and the time spent could have gone towards other things. Like trading, and more maps like Dome…ohhhhhhh Dome.
I really don’t think Execution is out of place for Dirty Bomb. It brings another gametype to play rather than only one gametype stopwatch/objective (which essentially is the same gametype and maps).

In execution the teamplay mechanics are pretty much the same and medics and fire support are even more important as you need to stay alive at all costs.

I don’t think the intention was to compete with Counter Strike. Let’s face it no FPS can take over such a heavily supported esport game which exists since forever. It’s more about giving something else to the players especially those who normally play that sort of gametype on other games.
However compared to other games (CS, S&D in CoD series, etc.) Execution brings more elements to the table in particular with the movement and the interaction between the players (medics and fire support especially).

The ecomony system from CS:GO can bring a different aspect in terms of strategy but I’m not a fan, and not having it in DB actually saves us from having people who eco their guns and such, we avoid all the camping and people playing safe to keep their guns when they’re outnumbered. It’s actually a great thing that Dirty Bomb doesn’t have an economy system like CS in Execution.

I’m happy that I can now enjoy a few games of objective/stopwatch and then a few games of execution before going into a competitive. The game feels less repetitive and has more variety.
I suppose but the one death per round and the fact that it’s basically just Objective but round based, I feel like it’s just…there. I feel like we could have done just fine with more maps or modes that better fit the style of shooter that Dirty Bomb is.

Like Headquarters for example, where a random point would spawn and you’d have to get there to control it. KOTH basically, but the team who catches it stops spawning, they have to hold it as long as possible until they all go down, this way it’s not a clean win. TF2 had KOTH but that just became DM and the team who had the point had no reason to stay there once they had it.

Or hell, give us CTF or something.

I just feel like Execution just pales in comparison, if people wanted to play the game mode they’d probably just go play Counter Strike. The audience for Dirty Bomb is the Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, Quake, Battlefield, and TF2 crowd, so it feels like we should be looking for game modes that fit that taste. Just my opinion.

Csgo players are easy to spot. They stand still amd throw in a crouch spam every now and again. An average DB player could show them up pretty easily.

Good god I forgot about HQ @Watsyurdeal. I would play the shit out of that.

(torsoreaper) #44

I have played a ton of CS (have played since CS 1.6 actually) but I’ve also played a lot of BF and I can say this game is a lot more like BF than CS in that working towards objectives and playing the right class are a lot more important than vanilla CS would prepare someone for. Also CS doesn’t have ADS which I don’t really use in this game but does help in some circumstances.

CSGO is not a hipfire based game, but it has a lot to offer in general training for aim, and teamwork ect… just don’t stop to shoot or try to zoom in Dirty bomb and you can use your CSGO skills to your advantage.

(cornJester) #46

Not sure how. It’s a game, it doesn’t even have a mouth.

(N8o) #47

As long as they keep their mindset in execution, idc.
Bring it into my objective based modes and i’ll cut your dick off.

Thought that was going to be a “too small” joke. You disappointed me :frowning:

Sorry, cs players have an air of superiority, and the op is a pretty good example. They also seem to have only played CS. Shooters are shooters. Counter-strike (played since beta 3), insurgency, DoD, ET, CoD, Battlefield, etc etc etc. They all punish you for not being the first to act. In each game, you have to put your cross hair on the opponents head and then control the recoil and most importantly, anticipate what your opponent will do.

(gg2ez) #50

Why is it important that you came from CS:GO? Welcome to Dirty Bomb, here’s your special snowflake award.

(Alias) #51

Happy!

There’s only two players on the AUS servers that I’ve played against and I can say has a very high professional skill level. They’re great players to play against but too bad they’ve quit.

We need more players here!

Have you played against yourself? Yeezus you’re tough.

(Glot) #53

is it realy a thing? do CSGO players in fact switch to DB? great, if so. DB deserves much much more players than it currently has.
quakers, et/etqw players, BF, CS, TF2, Tribes - welcome everyone!

(Sussepus) #54

Everyone is welcome as long as they leave their whatever “1337” attitude you see in other gaming communities behind and dont try to change DB into whatever game they came from.

(cordovanJive) #55

CSGO isn’t a hip fire game? Wut? O.O

(cordovanJive) #56

Also @Watsyurdeal would love a CTF game mode, maybe a one flag CTF as well. (Flag/objective in the center and both teams are fighting over picking it up)

(Lissxy) #57

The funny thing is that I really don’t like CSGO but Dirty Bomb is my bae. Welcome to the game  I haven’t met any CSGO players yet besides you.

(cordovanJive) #58

@Lissxy
I can definitely see why you’d like DB more than CS. Just because well all of the movement and the mercs and etc. I mean when you get down to it the games are really different in terms of gameplay, the biggest similarity is the gunplay.

Well that’s cool to hear, glad there are some positive responses, you should tell them about the new gamemode, maybe they’ll give the game a chance again? The game really deserves it, I’m just worried for it with how Overwatch is coming.

(watsyurdeal) #60

Overwatch is your typical blizzard game disguised as a shooter. I don’t think it will be THAT good honestly.
