How does everyone feel about all the CSGO players joining in?

Not sure how I should take that. ;P
To put it blunt, Counter Strike feels super slow, and TTK is so short none of the fights feel satisfying enough.

This game is the opposite, very fast paced, and each kill feels like it’s own fight, like a 1 round match of street fighter but shorter.

Can definitely see that, have you tried since the most recent update? They've done some nice changes to animation and things and fixed some things up. Sadly still 64 tick servers.. Still hoping for 128 at _some point_

Glad to see someone else in a similar situation to me.
The problems started right after the hitbox/animation update…which i find very very weird. It’s not the games hitboxes (they are almost perfect now) that are the problem it is the network routes to the server, its affecting quite a few people from the UK.
Ah see I live in the US so I haven’t had as big of an issue I think. Haven’t lived in the UK for a while now, guess I lucked out in that respect!

But hey at least it gives you the time to play DB. =)
My schedule

Work, Play Dirty Bomb, Sleep, Rinse, Repeat ; )

Normally I’d agree with you, but CS has randomly become my baby.

I’m normally in that same boat as you, I love high ttk games, and games with lots of skill based movement. Arena shooters like Quake, Reflex, a bit of Halo, etc… being my favourite genre.

But like I said, I have a soft spot for CS, it’s so addicting to me. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So far only two people totally out of the discussion, pretty good =P

Having any sort of CS background doesn’t help you in this game - at all. I’ve played CS, Quake, ET, RtCW, TF2, BF, CoD4… everything you can think of honestly, I’ve played CS on a decent level, I’ve played DB with CS pros (read: actual paid professionals, think kinguin, etc.) and it always comes down to the same. It’s nothing a like. You have basic mechanical skills that translate into any FPS, but that’s really just as far as it gets: Raw aim. Nothing else. That being said, it doesn’t really matter all that much on public what you do, publics have such a huge variety of skill levels that a 80 year old with Parkinson could still perform well once every now and then.

Also, very easy to spot the CS players in this game. Usually always the ones ending up not contributing enough because they’re not aggressive enough, too afraid of dying, or just outright don’t understand the spawnsystem in this game.

I’m not sure, the moment I stepped into this game I knew what I was supposed to do, I felt at home with the shooting mechanics being like CS and the movement mechanics more like a traditional arena shooter game (though no crazy bhopping. D: )

I guess all I mean to say is I caught onto this game really quickly. I play medic classed and proxy. I feel Aura is the best med even though I live Phoenix so much more. XD

Now I don’t mean to say if you play CS you’ll be a pro at this game, only that it helps… As well as having played other games in a similar style. They all maDE the transition for me into this game pretty dang smooth.

No. If anything it teaches you very bad habits. You can improve your aim in multitude of ways, playing a completely different game - in any and all aspects - will do you nothing but harm.

As said, basic mechanical skills translate into any game, but that’s all that is. Raw aim in CS, will still be decent in DB, just as raw aim in TF2 can still help you in CoD.

I am a very, very, very aggressive player in cs and even more so in dirty bomb, anyone who comes from cs should understand objectives, like anyone from Battlefield should understand the importance of ammo packs, med packs and defibs etc (even though no one seems to throw ammo or med packs there either, but there are medic trains galore though)

Also before i came back to PC gaming, I was a 360 owner and proud of it, when i moved back to PC i could not aim anymore and it was CS that learned me why i needed to react fast and be insanely accurate at a drop of a hat, it helped me git gud, it helped me in so many ways that i can just hop into any shooter now and wreck havoc, Skills outside of cs are transferable to other games, even if you do not think so yourself.

Seems kind of silly really now because

 1. Aiming with a mouse is super easy.

 2. That it is now the complete opposite. Halo 5 for instance i cannot stand the multiplayer because I cannot react at the speed I can due to slow sens on the xbox controllers. If I had K&M or more rationally if it was on PC, I can at least play at a level

CS:GO punishes you for existing when you’re trying to aim. Its like tumblr and white guilt, except it actually matters.

The two have nothing in common. CS:GO is…i know ill eat a lot of crap for saying this, but is closer to strategy game than a shooter. Its all about abusing corners. In fact all of the maps are pretty much choke points. Its total garbage as a shooter IMO.

If the CS:GO crowd wants in, fine by me. I just hope theyre ready to either adapt or get destroyed.

Either way, welcome aboard!

“Look at me, I play Counter-Strike”
Oh yeah, and then theres this. Those guys are in a for a bad time.

I learned consistent aim/tracking from years of Q3. Primarily the lightning gun. The one thing CS taught me was to also be able to pull down on my mouse while shooting somebody in Dirty Bomb and remaining accurate.

(watsyurdeal) #35

You know what CS taught me? How to be a camper, even provided the tent.

(VincentRJaeger) #36

Doesn’t matter which game you come from; Welcome to the game!

Please enjoy your stay and remain seated for the duration of the gameplay.

We’ll hope you’ll have a good time here with us on Dirty Bomb!

Probably because it feels out of place for Dirty Bomb’s style of play, feels like it exists only to compete with Counter Strike (which arguably does it better due to the whole economy system), and the time spent could have gone towards other things. Like trading, and more maps like Dome…ohhhhhhh Dome.
I really don’t think Execution is out of place for Dirty Bomb. It brings another gametype to play rather than only one gametype stopwatch/objective (which essentially is the same gametype and maps).

In execution the teamplay mechanics are pretty much the same and medics and fire support are even more important as you need to stay alive at all costs.

I don’t think the intention was to compete with Counter Strike. Let’s face it no FPS can take over such a heavily supported esport game which exists since forever. It’s more about giving something else to the players especially those who normally play that sort of gametype on other games.
However compared to other games (CS, S&D in CoD series, etc.) Execution brings more elements to the table in particular with the movement and the interaction between the players (medics and fire support especially).

The ecomony system from CS:GO can bring a different aspect in terms of strategy but I’m not a fan, and not having it in DB actually saves us from having people who eco their guns and such, we avoid all the camping and people playing safe to keep their guns when they’re outnumbered. It’s actually a great thing that Dirty Bomb doesn’t have an economy system like CS in Execution.

I’m happy that I can now enjoy a few games of objective/stopwatch and then a few games of execution before going into a competitive. The game feels less repetitive and has more variety.

How do I feel about the CS folks coming to DB?
Great, the more the merrier

P.S. Don’t all unlock Vassili, none of the cards have a Dragon Lore B)
