Having any sort of CS background doesn’t help you in this game - at all. I’ve played CS, Quake, ET, RtCW, TF2, BF, CoD4… everything you can think of honestly, I’ve played CS on a decent level, I’ve played DB with CS pros (read: actual paid professionals, think kinguin, etc.) and it always comes down to the same. It’s nothing a like. You have basic mechanical skills that translate into any FPS, but that’s really just as far as it gets: Raw aim. Nothing else. That being said, it doesn’t really matter all that much on public what you do, publics have such a huge variety of skill levels that a 80 year old with Parkinson could still perform well once every now and then.
Also, very easy to spot the CS players in this game. Usually always the ones ending up not contributing enough because they’re not aggressive enough, too afraid of dying, or just outright don’t understand the spawnsystem in this game.
I am a very, very, very aggressive player in cs and even more so in dirty bomb, anyone who comes from cs should understand objectives, like anyone from Battlefield should understand the importance of ammo packs, med packs and defibs etc (even though no one seems to throw ammo or med packs there either, but there are medic trains galore though)
Also before i came back to PC gaming, I was a 360 owner and proud of it, when i moved back to PC i could not aim anymore and it was CS that learned me why i needed to react fast and be insanely accurate at a drop of a hat, it helped me git gud, it helped me in so many ways that i can just hop into any shooter now and wreck havoc, Skills outside of cs are transferable to other games, even if you do not think so yourself.
Seems kind of silly really now because
-
Aiming with a mouse is super easy.
-
That it is now the complete opposite. Halo 5 for instance i cannot stand the multiplayer because I cannot react at the speed I can due to slow sens on the xbox controllers. If I had K&M or more rationally if it was on PC, I can at least play at a level
