How does everyone feel about all the CSGO players joining in?

(cordovanJive) #1

I’ve been playing this game for a little while now, since the beginning of the year. Maybe a little earlier. So relatively new. I played the game for a bit, liked it, but never really liked how it’s f2p model worked (not having all of the characters feels so weird coming from tf2 and CS)

Anyway I got off for a while, came back a week or two before the containment update because I found a merc I’d always been interested in was added, phoenix. I love his playstyle because it was more in route with what I was used to maining med in tf2.

Anyway the whole point of this thread… How do you guys feel about all of us CS players joining in? I know a few joined in when Warowl (a big CS youtuber) did a video covering DB, and now even more since execution was added. (A bit more home to what CS players are used to)

I love high speed movement games, and games with a lot of skill based movement combined with shooting. So this game has been a lot of fun so far. A little easy though, kind of just a game I enjoy pub stomping in. The head hitboxes are rather large and the weapons super easy to control… just a bonus for playing CS and learning how to aim well in it, these kind of games get a whole lot easier. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So yeah what’re your guys’ thoughts on all the new players? Especially ones with a bit of a CS background? =)

Warning: I got off tangent a bit, just my personality. XP

You are trolling, right?

@1AGRESSOR

Haha, I’m sorry to hear that… I’ve got 1,200 hours myself, a bit of a finatic… xD

Edit: Don’t get me wrong though, a good portion of that is probably if I fell asleep, or me just waiting for queue times, etc… :stuck_out_tongue:

@CLS

I don’t think I understand? I’m not trolling. Just a simple thing, you play a game with similar shooting mechanics (just more exaggerated) a game with those very same mechanics becomes a bit easier.

For example I can now move and shoot rather than stuck with firing when stopped or strafing and all I have to do is pull down. No ziggy zaggy on the recoil patters.

The games a whole lot of fun, I just said it was a bit easier for me (which is a good thing! I want a more casual game to have fun with) no problem with that?

The new players, that crouch every time they see an enemy are great. :smiley: I don’t really notice many others.

I have a hard time believing that your approach is genuine, but if it is, then here is a piece of advice for you: Don’t join a new community telling its members that the game they love is easy without any proof, especially coming from CS.

Regarding your initial question, I am very happy to have new people onboard, as long as they are nice and don’t act like ***holes because they believe their main game is the real stuff (really dude, no one is taking you seriously with your CS bragging).

Just sayin’, enjoy your stay!

@3N1GM4

That’s so great haha, it’s a super bad habit to get into in CS already, my friend even unbinded cntrl to get out of it once, I can’t imagine how funny it’d be to see in THIS game though. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ll be looking out for it. XD

As long as you don’t bring toxicity from CS:GO, you’re free to join in.

Oh and “Enjoy your stay”.

I’m not saying your game is easy necessarily. Just that it was easier for me to get into because I had a background in similar games.

The game plays way different and the real skill is put into other things, not necessarily the whole shooting aspect. The main skill in this game is the movement, know which class to use at what time, and etc… Which is the kind of game I really enjoy, which is why I’m playing this.

I don’t think I’m some star player in this game, just think it’s a lot more casual when I’m playing pubs and things. Because i dont even do competitive matchmaking. I totally recognize the competitive community in this game, and I don’t think by any stretch I’m the best in the game. I just mean to say this game is great and that it was an easy transition.

I tried the comp mode a while back, I liked it, but I don’t want to try to be some competitive player in this game. I like this game to relax and have fun. (Not to mention the queue times are sadly really long =/ )

I actually joined precisely because of WarOwls video, never heard of the game before. Luckily I don’t watch AngryJoe.
After i played DB for some time I just couldn’t get used to the low speed of other shooters again. I can pretty much only play tank in Planetside 2 now and CS:GO feels completely wrong.

In general new players are always welcome, since this game deserves and needs a bigger community. Btw. saying you are good at this game because you can shoot since you played a lot of CS:GO is like saying you are good at Dota 2 because you can lasthit easily from League of Legends. You’re still going to suck in the beginning, just sayin’ :wink:

Came from CS, (1200 hours, supreme) since it is unplayable at the moment with various routing issues causing either ridiculous ping spikes or unstable connections thus introducing bad (sorry no, non existent) hit reg and inducing rage i have never ever felt when playing a video game before.

DB is my main PvP game now and I love it, and I feel right at home again with the new execution mode even though it has received a very luke warm reception from the community for some reason.

I don’t think i could ever go back to CS now, even if the routing issues (either on the UK’s ISP Side or Valve’s Side) got sorted out, played one game the other week and could not believe how slow and clunky the game feels after playing Dirty Bomb xD.

Even sold some of my skins, sold my knife and bought Fallout 4, sold a spare AWP and bought the CW Case Bundle, got a Skyhammer LE Card and a shivers Vasilli LE Card xD

@SiegeFace

Can definitely see that, have you tried since the most recent update? They’ve done some nice changes to animation and things and fixed some things up. Sadly still 64 tick servers… Still hoping for 128 at some point

Glad to see someone else in a similar situation to me.

Welcome to a real shooter, not chess with guns

Probably because it feels out of place for Dirty Bomb’s style of play, feels like it exists only to compete with Counter Strike (which arguably does it better due to the whole economy system), and the time spent could have gone towards other things. Like trading, and more maps like Dome…ohhhhhhh Dome.

The problems started right after the hitbox/animation update…which i find very very weird. It’s not the games hitboxes (they are almost perfect now) that are the problem it is the network routes to the server, its affecting quite a few people from the UK.

(cordovanJive) #18

Not sure how I should take that. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

But yeah glad to be here myself, this is kind of the game I’ve always been looking for. Good shooting and skill based movement, as well as team based gameplay. Only wish some things were a bit better handled.

Ah see I live in the US so I haven’t had as big of an issue I think. Haven’t lived in the UK for a while now, guess I lucked out in that respect!

But hey at least it gives you the time to play DB. =)

I agree it does feel out of play kind of, but its a nice change of pace and provides a different way to play the game, it can be good fun when people are thinking tactically and working together as a unit but unfortunately those games are few and far between.

And Dome needs to be the staple for future maps in this game!
