How do you feel about shotguns?

(Sir_Slam) #1

I’ve noticed a lot of people don’t seem to care for shotguns. I however, can do some serious work with them. I don’t think there’s a more enjoyable way of getting a kill than ganking Aura and showing her the front-end of the Aluhund-12. Clothes-lining a sprinting Proxy and instagibbing her might be better but its a close tie.

I take the shotty on Fletcher. It seems to give him everything he needs to opperate at close-mid range combat. With the Empire-9 and stickies you can handle anything that gets out of shotgun range pretty easily. Sure, you suffer at longer distances but its not like one character is supposed to do everything.

The best though is being able to instantly shutdown anyone defusing with a single shot to the head. Microseconds count when Bushwacker is in the equation, and any decent player is going to notice stickybombs.

What do you guys think? Anyone else share the shotgun love or am I alone here?

I thought shotguns were perfectly fine as they were earlier and the shotgun buff wasn’t needed. So unfortunately I have to disagree with you. :frowning:
(But once again this is just my opinion. Everyone are free to agree or disagree.)

The Ahnuld and Remburg feel really good, I don’t like the Hollunds as much. I’ll never use one unless it’s the Ahnuld/Empire Double Time card for Fletcher.

There’s no better feeling that having a triple kill with a shotgun with Proxy

SO glad you asked! I do love complaining about shotguns. It’s my favorite thing to waste my time on. Lemme just get comfy here for my whining.

I hate them with a fiery burning passion. They’re cheap by packing a lot of punch without a lot of skill. Getting instantly killed by one from someone panic-tapping their fire button because I went around a corner into them feels dirtier to me than being reamed right up where the sun doesn’t shine by Phantom ever did. When a coked up Aura can bounce around like a jumping jack and down a Fragger ez-gg style, I’m mad as a hornet.

The fact they were buffed to have even more range and less spread in the last patch boggles my mind, especially when I’ve watched Proxy’s ADS and snipe with the fucking things.

So… y’know… shame on you and stuff. Your parents wouldn’t be proud. slaps the shotty away from their hands No. Bad.

Panic shooting doesn’t work if your enemy is jumping all around. You need to wait for the right time to shoot.

I was describing two different, yet equally mind-numbingly infuriating scenarios. Kangaroo Aura’s and panic-taps from one of the 900000000 shotgun toting mercs equally steams my carrots.

Proxy and Aura don’t deserve shotguns, that’s how I feel about Shotguns.

I just feel as though they are annoying ( @Mercy pretty much said my thoughts) but at the same time I know they aren’t that powerful. Annoying isn’t the same thing as powerful or overpowered and despite being annoyed by them I must admit that they just aren’t that great in a lot of situations.

I don’t really use them or the classes that use them much. Well, I use Proxy a lot but I run her with a hochfir + double time because SPEED

They deserve buses. Buses to the face.

They probably won’t be played in competitive, where range matters a lot. This said, they do what they should do : dishing burst damage. Their spread overall feels right, but feels surprisingly tight sometimes. Lots of players complain about being one-shotted by them, which is something I can understand, but they also tend to overestimate a lot their killing potential.

Possibly both the absolute nightmare and a life saver for beginners. Good players can still do even better with but I don’t expect any comp player to play a shotgun as accuracy and range matters a lot in DB. I may be wrong though…

Overall I’d say they are in a good enough position. I am not sure if they can be balanced for being more viable in comp though.

I always find it irritating when someone that is using shotguns is complaining about Phantom.

The feel is something like this:
“You complain about Phantom that you can see and hear well, but yet you can’t see how powerful that shotgun is?”

Yeah, it indeed feels fancy when wild shotgun user appears behind the corner and I find myself chilling dead on the ground very quickly.

What I found irritating is when people complained about the Katana. How it was a one/two shot weapon. The shotgun is pretty much the same thing but with a longer range.

If the Katana was that bad then what makes the shotgun acceptable? I’d like to know.

I know the Katana can still kill in one swing… but don’t you dare miss it. The turn limit is a stupid thing imo. It was one thing to remove the ongoing damage of the swing which is acceptable… but then adding a turn limit to it just made it useless unless you’re killing someone who’s afk.

Stay on topic…this is not a Phantom thread

(affableTricycle) #16

They’re skilless pubstomp weapons that are useless competitively and only exist to let shitters get cheap frags in pubs. Pretty much like Phantom honestly. The Ahnuld is the only fair one. Can’t instakill people without a headshot (if I get instakilled with the Ahnuld I just press v56) and it’s only available on slower mercs.

They’re not OP. They’re just skilless and anti-fun.

(ArtGutFallen) #17

I made a video comparing the Hollunds 880 and the Remburg 7 so if you want my personal opinion and some stats go check it out.

PS:Don’t forget to like, comment, rate and subscribe

PPS: ARTGUTFALLEN IS A MONEY WHORE!!!

Just kidding guys hehe!

I use the remburg with double time perk on Proxy and pub, comp, and cup play, Its glorious. People say that competitevly shotguns are outclassed because range is important but let me tell you, it really isnt that way.

My team went 0-4 in cup play (first time ever playing as a team, ever) and my main merc was Aura with the hollunds. Since Aura isnt a frontline fighter the shotty was fantastic at holding corners and generally preventing people from rushing a specific area. If I knew a fragger or nader was inbound I would pump some rounds at them, observe for a grenade or Mk36 animation start whilst pumping, pick up station, run away, wait for boom, pump rounds, place station, sip grape drink.

If I was running proxy I would pump rounds, throw mine, shoot mine get splash dmg or kill, rush boom site, pump rounds, and if possible, fall back to health or clean up the kills.

Grant it I wasnt a killing machine by any means but the one thing you can count on with every player, I dont care who you are or how good you are or what your stats are or w/e, when you get charged by a shotty and youre getting tagged in the face youre going to either A.) Fall back and re-strat or B.) wait for respawn timer.

Grant it people who run in straight lines and ask to be lasered in the face are not going to fair well but if you dodge, dip, dive, duck, dodge, Im willing to bet case A or B will happen.

People who get salty about shotties are the ones who get #rekt by them by some pub, scrub, or any other rhyming word that denotes a lower class player compared to their “eliteness”

I really dislike shotguns and i never use them
