[QUOTE=Mustang;431206]And they’re never going to do that, nor should they, nor would I expect them and neither should anyone else expect or demand such a thing, there is such a thing as professional courtesy.

It depends on what you value. Do you prefer courtesy, or openness ? Imagine if Splash Damage was your friend. Would you like him more if he was courteous at the cost of not being open with you, or blunt ? Do you perceive “not being open” as a potential problem at all ?
I would like it more if they were blunt. I think they as a company have two kinds of people to satisfy: their business partners and gamers. I think they’re showing they value business partners more. It’s not your job to worry about SD satisfying business people, that’s not your problem.
Honestly I’m surprised they continue to be able to release games. W:ET was successful. ET:QW was okay, but troubled, largely ignored by gamers and had niche appeal despite attempts to make it accessible. Brink was a failure. Their games are not stellar, developers better than SD went bankrupt after releasing better games. Yet they are making their 4th and 5th game. They must be very good at business talk and networking.
Compare DB’s communication skills with that of Triumph Studios, the developers of Age of Wonders games and Overlord. Here’s what they’ve already said about Age of Wonders III (a fantasy TBS on hexes, similar to Heroes of Might and Magic but more advanced):

The are active on their forums, and they respond to many questions. SD throw occasional witty remark or a joke. When put next to Triumph, SD seems autistic.
