I have played all of Splash Damage’s games and I really liked RtCW, Wolf:ET, and even QW:ET somewhat (Flying vehicles… not so much). When I picked up Brink, I expected something like Wolf, but was given something really unpleasant instead. Now, some people who like this Alpha apparently liked Brink, which is making me a bit nervous. I would have happily picked up the 120/60 package already if Brink did not exist.
My questions are: How many of the following “Brink” features are in Dirty Bomb? These features are the ones I felt ruined the game, besides the rushed development.
-
Are there Various Body Sizes for the player to choose from, which in turn change hitpoints/hitbox/weapon loadouts? Or are all possible alterations merely cosmetic? Will the cosmetic appearance changes be drastic (making a medic look like a grizzly bear, hence confusing everyone) or merely a new hat?
-
Is each class easily distinguishable from afar (i.e. Medic Base Model, Soldier Base Model, etc.) or do players customize a single avatar that can be any class (thus, the baggy jeans guy can be anything, or possibly even changing each time he spawns).
-
Are there unique weapon loadouts for each class? If there is customization for loadouts, is it simple (as in pick a single upgrade) or going to be ridiculous as in Brink where you literally can spend an hour trying to pick the right weapon (e.g. pick a shotgun from what seemed like 10 shotguns), and then try to fine tune it with 5 different hardpoints on it?
-
Do class upgrades (i.e. more health, revive boosts, etc.) carry over from game to game, or only until the campaign is over? In the event of cross over, will we be able to eventually unlock all of the upgrades and be able to select, say 2? Brink made a HUGE mistake in this part by only allowing 20 purchases (when maxed), and having each class require 20 (thus you could max out medic, but that in turn leaves your ability to play the other roles “gimped”).
-
Will I be forced to watch cutscenes at the beginning of every map and during every successful objective completion (Brink) or can I merely hear about it over the radio and see a missile fly overhead if I bother to look up (Wolf:ET)?
-
Will there be mission objectives for every class in a silly way (pumping the escort with 50 adrenaline needles as he takes 1000 rounds of machine gun to the face), or let classes and team configs fluctuate on team needs?
-
Are there Parkour tricks in this game?
Sorry if this list seems rude, but these 7 seem to be biggest offenders Brink committed. I really tried to like Brink, but despite its bugs, these "aspects’ ruined the game for me.
