have faith in SD bro, i did not like Brink, on alpha for Dbomb, as these guys have said you will not be let down!
How different is this from Brink?
I’m not denying it looks good but it looks generic… My question if the NDA allows it, is the game something new in the FPS genre or is it similar with better controls/gameplay/weapons?
I cant tell how far it is away from Brink because I didnt play Brink at all. The gameplay vids from Brink showed it clearly that Brink is not going to be a game i will enjoy. I never bought it. After I saw the Dirty Bomb Vids, I was sure that this game will be great and spend money on it.
What do you mean by new in the FPS genre? The only “innovative” feature I’ve seen in an FPS game of late was SMART in Brink and I don’t think it really added to the gameplay. I hope DB will stay closer to the “old ways” rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.
Screw it… I don’t think I’ll ever get an answer with the NDA around us. Thanks anyways.
More of an unrelated topic, why do NDA’s exist? I’m really curious.

NDA’s protect any game ideas from competitors. Without them their would be an abundance of lawsuits and an incredibly stale market.

This game is still in alpha stage which basically means EVERYTHING can be changed with time.
NDA’s protect any ideas from being spread in the world. I had to sign NDAs at my jobs because the companies want to keep their secrets and interna intern
Propablly because I work in the Risk Management and Financial Departments
Once my boss told me, if i break the NDA a lawsuit will ruin my live and I can work till I die to be able to pay the fee exept I have a super idea which gives me millions of €€€
no you cant really outline any specifics, have faith in vetrans of rtcw / et and et:qw’s though
I’d be more interested in answering the question of how to get the general populous to realise than an alpha or beta is not a demo.
It seems that some damage once done can’t for love nor money be undone.
ya can’t, just like you can’t get them to realize the alpha is not a place to clan practice before release. I think SD should let those types develop their whole strategy on exploits and then remove them on day 1
Leinahtan, change the thread title.
It must be: “How different is this from Counter:Strike?”, not “How different is this from Brink?”

I’d like to see a video after release showing how actual gamers helped them shape DB, I suppose the only thing would be if they took something out that they would want to use in future titles. It probably wouldn’t change everyone’s perception of aphas/betas but it would be interesting to see.
voodooboy; I think they could actually use Echo to show exactly how the Alpha and Beta helped shape the game and would be an outstanding way to showcase the work on release

… No…
On a side note, I picked up the 60 pack. Here is hoping I get into the Alpha. I’d prefer to get into the Alpha, and if I don’t like what I see, try to influence them in the proper direction.
i hate brink with a passion, but mainly only due to the theme and artistic design… and some of the gameplay and maybe the maps, weapons, characters and some other stuff. oh yeah and smart.
I can only hope there are more veterans of those past games you speak of than non-veterans currently in marketing alpha.
It´s a bit off topic, but is Brink really that bad? I played ET and ET:QW (a loved them both) and a lot of other modern online-firstpersonshooter. How does it compare to them? I read some articles about it, but never got my hands on it. Should I or is it just a waste of time?
