haha, the genius of it!
How did you get into online FPS games?
I care about storylines.
so do i…
if i buy a game i expect to have an adventure when i play it…
… imo multiplayer is just a great thing to increase the games lifetime, if the SP-side of the game is a bit short the multyplayer-side has to back that up (or at least there should b a expansion pack).
Just look at CoD, completed SP in 2 days and still having fun on multyplayer!
I’m only saying that if you people are gunna create a game the way you think would work -no storyline- it would sell crap. (and thats were it is all about)
DOOM - Favorite weapon was the plasma rifle (shoik shoik shoik shoik!) BFG sissies eat my dirt.
Descent and Descent II - What a blast. How fun to shoot a Smart Missle on a wall while being chased down a hall and hear the guy chasing you blow up behind you, or catch 2 guys dogfighting and nail them both with the Gauss Cannon. Anyone remember the cheaters firing Smart Missles at the floor fast as Gauss, or thrusters that moved the player at 2 times normal speed, or players who could take 30 Gauss rounds then
claim you lagg too much? LMAO. Seen plenty of that. Hex editing was popular among the twinks for that game. It’s funny that Descent II was the 1st game to come with CTF right out of the box, yet nobody played CTF in that game. Wierd.
Quake - Player runs too fast to make it fun for multiplayer. COOP is good though.
Quake II - Was the bomb. Ruled it for 3 years straight. COOP is still fun. It took almost 3 years for the sissies to ruin it with autoaim railgunners and super-human running speed. Remember thetwinks running down a hall at 72 mph with the flag? lol
Unreal - Was a great game. COOP is good clean fun. Still play it some.
Unreal Tournament - Was a great game, low player height was odd and disturbing though. Now it’s only crazy, off the wall mods that ruin the game, lots of cheaters using autoaim and SS bots. Naturally, nobody plays it anymore.
Half-Life - Was a very good, innovative game for SP. Worthless from the start for MP because of Quake II cheats adapted to it. Abandoned from the beginning by honest players.
Quake III - The best test of hand-eye coordination and on-foot tactics of any game to date. Also the shortest life of any FPS to date. In less than 1 1/2 years it was overrun by cheaters using Quake II cheats adapted to Quake III syntax. Losers. Consiquently, all the honest players left the game for good.
SOF - Lots of fun single player. A pretty good game for multiplayer. Poor-ish graphics though.
SOF II - Very good game for SP, ruined quickly for MP by cheaters. Now it’s almost all cheaters and server-side bots. You could join a game and not 1 player will respond to you no matter what you say… because they are not human players. It’s funny, and sad.
RTCW - IMO the best FPS to date. Perfect balance. Unfortunately, it’s dead due to cheats and everyone migrating to ET. Why almost everyone would just abandon such a great game is beyond me. I guess out of silly fear of not playing the most popular game. Most of those who still play it are hacked.
ET - A good game but contains elements it should not have. Fire rate is super unrealistically slow. Better to reduce hit points than rate, as in RTCW. More than a few autoaimers, ball (wall) hacks too.
