How active is ET..?

(Guil) #1

Hey there,

I used to play ET for years, and it’s nostalgic to Google old screenshots - I want to start playing again actively… However I’m wondering if many people still play ET?

Last I played it, thousands of people played (before Quake Wars was released).
I’m hoping the community is still quite large…

So… Do many people still play ET, and if so is ETPub the best way to go (I remember I’d switch between ETPub & ETPro back in the day)…?

Thanks…!

Hey there Guil,

Sorry, but the majority left ET. But there are MANY players that play ET!

-anyways, the engine source was released last week. YOU should stay awhile and listen.

I suppose that’s good and bad news… Are there still many servers online?

I recall some servers were even difficult to enter, due to them always being full.
That’s very interesting that the source codes are open… :open_mouth:

I’ll stick around!

EDIT: I assume the QUAKE wars community is still large…?
Also, it seems there’s so many mods, maps and sounds, etc on every server I try to join - spending more time downloading than playing o_o

I’ve been playing for a couple hours today - but most servers I find are filled with bots :’(

(reaply) #6

Ya, a lot are. But try to look for servers that are like 30+slots and like 20+ filled usually all humans.

some servers where you can find humans:

Splatterladder is good for finding servers with actual players, and proscene is still quite active.

A handy tip, no ETPro public runs bots (because ETPro doesn’t support them :-P) so you can almost always find people on them.

(stealth6) #9

Etpro has it’s own kind of bots… :penguin:

off topic: More cheaters on ETpro then on Etpub?

topic: yeah i forgot to put some ETpro servers…

(signofzeta) #11

REAL ET is dead.

Pseudo ET is far beyond alive.

This is a plug :

…and this is my game-wide statistics page, which has some interesting numbers and stuff on it.

Earlier I updated it to count bots versus humans, and was shocked to find such a high percentage of bots, and that 2.55 actually has slightly more players than 2.60 at times.

(macbeth) #13

here u will find the server w/o bots and who is a popular USA server

ET is still a great game and the funny one at least

I never tire of shooting bunny hopping Nazis!

On the other hand, the proliferation of XP save mods makes me cry myself to sleep at night…

Same here. XP SAVE almost removes great role play part of WolfET - skill-system.

In my country, there is buch of servers. However, there are no active servers without xp save except those administered by me. :frowning:

I’ve been playing a fair bit now, and found some great servers - only problem is, they’re so far away my ping is rarely under 300 :frowning:
