There has been a lot of complaints about the matches taking to long with the standard settings. So how about if the axis spawn was to be added with +10 seconds. And along with that the time for the map is halfed. This should make the most maps playable for matches I think.
Also it would stop the infamous kill abuse a bit. Since they have to wait longer to use it. So it will be used less. With this the teams will also rely more on there own teamwork.

What do you think about it?

Have you played in any clan matches toed ? if so, what has your experience been, do the maps always go the full distance and end w/ defence always winning ?

In my experience NOPE! Get a good aggressive allied team and you got a fight on your hands. Shit we once had III (empire…old bad ass rtcw clan) Hold us to full time and planted each time in under 2 minutes.

Well match play (at this time) uses about half the given time (usually 15 minutes) in stopwatch mode… I can’t speak for campaign because we don’t play that.

If there’s a vast difference in skill level between clans the amount of time you have won’t really matter because one clan will cap in extremely fast time (it’s happened against us plenty of times :disgust: )

So far I would say the worst map as far as having multiple ties is Fuel Dump. That’s really difficult to do in 15 minutes most of the time.

In our SW match we tied both the 1st 2 rounds (an hour’s worth of ties) before deciding on playin it as sudden death, next round winner takes all. Fortunately we won but we ended up playing about 2 hours just to win 1 round.

I think at this point the times given on maps still need to be tweaked and hopefully get some more maps pretty soon.

This very subject is currently being discussed on UK forums (in fact I proposed it in one instance).

On Fueldump it is proving almost impossible for Axis to lose against a team of the same or lesser ability because the map is biased in Axis favour. Adding 10 seconds to Axis re-spawn would shift the balance of this map, at least so as to make it do-able for Allies. Obviously if Allies are the stronger team anyway, then it’s do-able anyway, but given teams of equal ability Axis win.

There’s a Euro tourney currently underway in which the first week’s map was Fueldump, and some very long games have been played. I refereed 1 game which took 3 hours and ended in a 0 - 0 draw. Other games have been 1 - 0 wins (played over 3 Stopwatch rounds).

So, yes, I’d definately be in favour of increasing the spawn time of the defending team (i.e. Axis for all maps apart from Railgun). A 40 sec re-spawn works well and provides balance on RTCW maps like Beach, Base and Assault (possibly the 3 most popular maps).
