HOSTING ET SERVERS - NEED HELP PLEASE

Hi all,

I’m Damien, and i work for http://games.easyconnect.fr/index.php?url=serveurs/serveurs.htm
I host 10+ ET servers. From august to last week, everything was okay. But since yesterday morning, i’ve many servers crashing for same reason. Watchdog try to reinitialize the server, but the same problem crash again. When i kill the server and start it agani, everything works, until next crash (many hours btw 2 crashes).
Here is the error message :

ERROR: ERROR: G_RegisterPlayerClasses: failed to load character file ‘characters/temperate/axis/soldier.char’ for the Axis Soldier

In watching the error, i understand ET wants a file, not found or corrupted. I started a dedicated server on my own PC (Linux/Debian stable release)

My servers are running 2.56 version (i patched it again and again with all available files on your website. I’m using etded on dual CPU’s Linux/Debian Stable release. I’m not root, but have acces to all needed (i hope so). I used recently : “set r_smp 1” i don’t think it’s in cause.
Can someone help me please ???

try reinstalling ET. if you have multiple ET installs, then try it on one install and if that starts to work fine then you might be able to cut time/hassle by just copying over pak0.pk3 from the working install to the non-working ones (pak0.pk3 is the one that contains soldier.char).

Try removing “games.easyconnect.fr.pk3” move it to a temporarlily directory not locatable by et :wink:

ok i’m reinstalling all on the server (one install and many cfg’s)

i resintalled all of my servers, and i still have the same problem.
Please i really need help.

Like i said before, remove all custom *.pk3 files, move them to another dir and see if they still crash.

I tried removing my pk3 (containing only campaign scripts)
The problem still appear (server : 212.180.2.133:27960 and 212.180.2.133:27961)
I tried removing PB (may be a bugged update) on 212.180.2.136:27963
This server still up, but problem could appears after weeks or days
I wait’n see, all idea is welcome
