Hitboxs/Health?

(Apoc) #1

Ok, 2 questionss, my apologies if one or both have already been answered, i couldnt find the info.

  1. Will there be Hitbox’s?
i.e will it be like etqw where a foot shot does less damage than a chest shot which does less damage than a head shot
    or
like quake 3 where a hit is a hit, damage is uniform over all areas

  2. What is the health system?
I personally cant stand the recent trend of getting rid of health bars and just having blood come up on the screen if you get hurt, that goes away after time. Hopefully there will be a clear hud with health indicated, tbh i think its guna have to be like that for medics to have any use for their medkits…

I strongly concur, plus with such a great artwork it would be a waste not having a badass HUD

(tokamak) #3

I don’t think you have to worry about a regeneration system.

(Sssaap) #4

you should go through the crossfire thread :stuck_out_tongue:

he stated there somewhere that the healthsystem is going to be like it is in farcry2
where you regenerate little health out of combat, up to a certain level and only further by using med packs

Sounds very good to me

I don’t know health regen of any sort can encourage people to run away rather than encourage good firefights. Atleast it wont be like COD though.

Only going by memory here -

The power bar and the health bar are made of PIPs. If you have 3 PIPs in your power bar it means you can perform 3 class actions. The health bar is made out of 2 PIPs which autoheal. But it doesnt autoheal to the point where you have a full amount of HP.

Im sure Rhado or someone at SD will correct me if I’m wrong.

(BeyondSpectrality) #8

So are you saying its like Resistance Fall Of Man? Where you have a health bar like this: [—][—][—][—][—][—] and lets say you get shot up you regenerate, but only to your current box like this:

Full Health: [—][—][—][—][—][—]
Injured: [ ][ ][ -][—][—][—]
Regenerated: [ ][ ][—][—][—][—]

?

Ya i cant stand the health regeneration system now a days either. Modern Warfare’s is by far the worst. I don’t like knowing that if i bring some one down to near death, one more shot, they can just run and hide in a corner for 10 seconds and be at full health again. i hope there’s a med pack system like TF2’s. that would be a great idea

Personally I’m not familiar with Farcry2, but I watched a video to check the health regeneration system, and saw a slow basal regeneration. However, in retrospect, the player always had low hp, so if there was a regeneration limit in Farcry2, I wouldn’t have known. I was hoping the game would be CoD4 like regeneration (maybe slower (not less than half though)), so I don’t have to rely on sacrificing medics to kill people, but that’s just me, considering I am a run-and-gun personality. Personally I’d think it is BS to rely on a medic to get to 100% health when you lone wolf the enemy team by flanking.

All my opinion though…

“Lone wolf” as a medic and heal yourself?

(mjjdj88) #12

well if there are medkits, dont know if there will be, placed throughout the levels then you wont have to rely on a medic to reach 100% health

(MILFandCookies) #13

^ You have to rely on another medic.

(mjjdj88) #14

ah ok. thanks for clearing that up. wasnt sure if there would be a medkit system like in TF2.

It’s supposed to be a teambased shooter afterall no?
So why encourage loning? if you choose to deal more damage than others by picking a stronger class for example - so be it, but live with the downs of it aswell

(mjjdj88) #16

ya thats why theres no sniper class. so there wont be lonwolfing. they really want this game to be as team based as possible. which is a great idea

(INF3RN0) #17

I remember something about multiple hit boxes, and it seems like others already covered the health system :).

(brbrbr) #18

solution:

  1. no hitboxes, ie realistic dammage simulation.
  2. players enjoy game.
  3. profit.

yea, well. doom3 showed what per pixel hit detection does to game/network performance.

my personal choice would be one box for the body, one for your head.

sidenote: it would be a nice gimmick if you can shoot your opponents hat off when you headshot him. you know, just like in wolf:et  since there is a costumization slot for your headgear it will be a waste of ressource not to implement it. i always laughed in ET when i heared a pling sound and the helmet of the enemy soldier fell right off

(Apoc) #20

Id prefer 3 hitboxs, head = 200% dam torso = 100% dam lower body = 60% dam
Gives an incentive to aim for the head, and means its hard to wipe out a crowd by proning then just shooting everyones ankles under a bush lol.
