Hitboxes and the new ETpro

(Abraxas) #1

I know, everyone complains about the hitboxes and blame their performance on them but others and myself have found it really buggy. Im no pro like reyal but do this… Get a buddy to crouch and strafe left to right and you stand there and shoot for his head. I’ve done this and I’ve wasted a whole clip on his head and he didnt die. Im not sure what they changed in etpro since the last update, but they must have changed the hitboxes cause we have all noticed a lot less headshots. Its frustrating really. :banghead: Anyway, I hope someone can clear this up for me and if you know if they will be making any changes in the new update and when thats coming out…Thanks!

You’re testing on 3.1.9? With visible hitboxes on? I find that hard to believe as I think the new hitboxes are highly improved.

BTW, I adblocked your avatar.

(Abraxas) #3

I didnt use any visible hitboxes and thats not the only time I’ve noticed differences but that could just be me. Try it yourself. Yes, the latest etpro and in my opinion, I think the hitboxes are worse than the last update.

BTW, why would you adblock my avatar?

I just think that animated images on forums are annoying.

My accuracy is higher in 3.1.9 than 3.1.0. I assumed it was because you now hit what you see, and having never played online with dial-up (and being too stupid too anyway) I’ve never learnt to “lead” my shots, I’ve always aimed at the player model, and always at the model’s head. Now, thanks to 3.1.9 I’m actually hitting what I’m aiming at.

(schmeisser) #6

By the way, Abraxas, truly disturbing avatar. Problems with women maybe? Hearing voices?

(Abraxas) #7

Have you tried that crouch thing? Maybe if i see where the hitboxes I might be able to figure out where Im shooting, where can I get the visible hitboxes thing Cerebrate was talking about?

BTW, theres nothing wrong with my avatar. Its just a guy surviving temptation from a group of 50 ninja school girls.

What value of b_realhead on the server ? AFAIK with b_realhead 0, it is unchanged from previous version, and with 1, it should follow the model.

(ouroboro) #9

just to elaborate on reyalp’s post, do this in the server:

/pb_cvarval b_realhead

and post the results here (1 or 0)

(Abraxas) #10

Hmmm I did it and strangely enough this came up ( SV_CVAR b_realhead = ‘’ ) without brackets. and btw, those arent quotes, they are two of ’ together. Dunno what to make of it.

(ouroboro) #11

was it the latest version of etpro?

(DG) #12

/wonders if there’s some confusion…

3.1.0 is the latest ETPro.
3.1.9 is the latest beta test version of ETPro, and includes the b_realhead option for servers to choose the fixed headbox or not.

(Fusen) #13

realhead shouldnt be an opion in 3.2.0 :frowning:

(ouroboro) #14

:o blasphemy! since when is an accurate representation bad? so rather than being able to aim at the head and hit the head, you prefer having to memorize where a fubar’d box will be depending on the position/action of your enemy?

craziness i say!

b_realhead owns all  (although i have to say i’ve hardly tested it and am speaking purely on best case scenario - maybe it actually doesn’t work right?)

edit i just realized, your comment might have been to suggest that b_realhead should be MANDATORY in 3.2.0, in which case disregard the above and consider myself seated firmly in your camp

gotta love vague statements!

(Fusen) #15

shouldn’t be an option meaning it should be forced on all servers :banghead:

(DG) #16

/me presses F1

b_antiwarp too.
b_fixedphysics blah also.

(ouroboro) #17

^–here here

(m@ilman) #18

I know im a nub, but how can I turn on visable hitboxes in ET or ETPRO?

(DG) #19

iirc it’s g_debugBullets x
i thought they said the new etpro headboxes didnt show up accurately using it though, cba searching though the etpro forum for it.

Abraxas, I’d take it as a personal favour if you changed your avatar to something that doesn’t portray violence against female minors. You know when we try to persuade ordinary folk and the media that gamers are just regular, everyday well-adjusted people with rich social lives and at-least-average social skills? Avatars like that don’t win hearts or minds. Howabout changing it to one portraying violence against just one female, possibly an older one? Or perhaps just a picture of a women, possibly fully clothed, and let the view imagine the violence? Or maybe, just maybe, no women or violence at all? Hey, just dreaming out loud…

:moo:
