High ping players are a bit ridiculous

(watsyurdeal) #1

I played a match recently with two players who had over 200+ ping, I was dying to them what felt like instantly. I couldn’t react or kill them before they killed me, and my health bar seemed to disappear completely.

Is this working as intended???

(K1X455) #2

you nearly had max health and all of a sudden, dead in 2~3 body shots?

*shakes head at the rampant abuse of unfair advantage

(Szakalot) #3

this was discussed to death.

detection is client-based so any two players with a high ping difference will play a ‘who peeks who’ game.

whenever they peek you, they will crush you in a few hits. same works the other way.

quite silly to be sure, imo anything above 200ping shouldnt be allowed

Im.on east coast servers and they all seem crappy. lately usualy im 24 ms but lately im seing a lot of 50+ pings. One match it went to 600ms down to 300 back to 400 down to 60 and it scrolled up and down not jumped around

(Dawnlazy) #5

I’ve only noticed this happening since the MOFO update and it doesn’t even have to be with 200+ ping. They just screwed something up with the hit detection in that update.

(DirtyDav) #6

So it’s not just me who thinks this…

Hate it when they try to tell you ping just makes it harder for them

(Szakalot) #7

it does, overall being able to react to an attack is a lot more important then getting 150ms advantage on your own peek. the only real exception is snipe, which can be quite annoying and downright abusive

High ping DOES make it a lot harder to play, I sure miss having South American servers that were actually located in South America where I’d get 4 ping and feel like a god when people would just drop instantly after taking enough damage instead of having the last few hits cancelled because the server registered my death first. Now 100-150 is still perfectly playable, just a bit tricky sometimes in very close fights where you could have survived with a tiny bit of HP left, but 200+ is nearly unplayable, I just die before I even know I’m being shot at.

Oh, I know having high ping makes it harder to play, but it also fucks shit up for those with low ping. There really should be SA servers…

(Mc1412013) #10

Ive noticed lately quite a few head shots with the sniper rifles not registering lately

(Sorotia) #11

I won’t name names…but one of those guys I played against a few days ago…he didn’t have a high ping and he was still doing that…I think he was just a cheater using some kind of damage mod.

Even when I got the jump on his ass he would still plow me in 2 or 3 shots.

(ImSploosh) #12

Pretty much this. However, I haven’t seen anything THIS bad. This looks like damage hacks to me… Maybe I’m not seeing it clearly, but it just looks like that. Plus, they’re both level 7, pings about the same, maybe they know each other? Look at their scores too… Those are pretty high scores for not being the end of the game and being level 7s. Obviously they’re definitely obtainable and I’ve gotten 30k-40k pretty easily, but just seems odd.

The MOFO update definitely messed some shit up. I think the weird, nearly insta-death is gone for me, but it still happens sometimes. The couple of patches after the update appeared to fix the issues, I think. But I just don’t know because it is possible that I’ve just grown use to the current problems and don’t really notice them anymore.

(AlphaUT) #13

Let’s make comp games on Asia server, so we can compete who shoots first.

(Sorotia) #14

@Sploosh I’m pretty sure the guy is using a damage hack…I played against him too…his ping was fine I looked up his account…pretty fresh account…classic sign of a hacker.

I would of considered maybe it was lag or he was a smurf…but seeing it happen to someone else is really damn shadey.

(GatoCommodore) #15

no need, the asia server is already littered with high pingers high levels who i dont understand, refuse to quit playing dirty bomb if their internet is currently unstable…

yesterday is utter shit in Asia with those high ping high levels.

(GodsMistake) #16

I really do wish there wasn’t a high influx of players with high pings on the east coast servers. Many of them are from South America which I learned from in-game chat. It makes it quite irritating and it’s bad enough playing with 13 fps now since the update. And I thought they made a cool water effect just for me…sigh.

Yeah, plus it just doesn’t look like it would when someone’s ping is high. Even when their ping is high, dying to them doesn’t appear the way it is happening in this video. It looks like 1 bullet is killing him. Watch the video and see how his health doesn’t go down at all, he’s just instantly killed. This happens with lag sometimes as well, but it appears differently. I can’t really explain it. D:

I don’t know. I could be wrong. It’s definitely shady though!

(Dawnlazy) #18

Playing on US East from South Am is just fine though. I only feel hampered by the lag in US West where ping spikes up to 180-200.

Yeah, while high-ping players can be annoying, such as being shot around corners/through solid cover, or being shot by snipers or shotguns when you should’ve completely dodged them, this doesn’t at all look like that.

Normally, there’s a delay before you take damage and the person appears to either rubberband or twitch around like they’re on a trackpad, but in the above video, they appear to be moving fine.

(K1X455) #20

The reason is Nexon moved the server from South Am to North Am.

You didn’t get it do you? OP has lower latency than the one that killed him.
