High ping players are a bit ridiculous

1 - Give enough server region so anyone has the opportunity to play with a ping below 100ms. It was mandatory in any game 10 years ago, I still don’t understand why they allowed themselves to go backwards on that one.

2 - Do a full thorough pass on netcode and server parameters, which has never been done yet. While the 180 fps cap was supposed to provide good improvements (and it should, they were forgetting a core UE3 limit), it mostly dug out hidden problems with netcode, tickrate and how servers are currently set up. Game feeling actually got a lot weirder than it already was, while UE3 is a very capable engine if set well.

Seriously, am I the only one to notice this? They’re hacking. Can you not tell? It has nothing to do with hit detection or their high ping - They’re literally killing you with 1 bullet.

They’re using a damage boost hack. It’s been pretty common in DB lately. The 1 bullet gib as seen in the first kill you posted from the Nader is the most obvious part.

Both level 7, both insanely high score, both killing you with 1 bullet - Probably two friends trolling the game, hacking together & having a laugh over comms. Damage boost is really common lately. There was a guy running around in Aus servers a few months ago with a damage boosted Timik where 1 single body shot gave him a kill.

That’s what it looked like to me, too, because they seemed to be moving pretty normally…

Like I said… unfair advantage. It’s been known that these players fine tune their a d v a n t a g e in a region where they are not a resident of for fear of repercussion in the local scene. This was on like 4~5 months ago. It’s still here. I’m expecting it’ll still be here in 2017.

Very hard to tell between someone lagging hard and someone hacking. If he’s lagging hard multiple hits from his screen can easily turn into a single shot from your client as hits will stack for a significant moment until he gets connected again and everything will be accounted at once.

But as far as I see it, those guys are quite fishy indeed.

I’m no expert on the subject, so enlighten me; if multiple hits stack as one, what happens to the rotation of the hit indicator if they come from different locations? Does it average it out, or just take the first one, etc? Just curious, I’m interested in this sorta thing.

imo they should all come from one direction, as the server remembers you were being hit and applies all hita at once.

basically the server tells you where the damage comes from at the moment of being hit, not at the moment the bullet was fired

Generally from the position where the client fired the bullet that will kill you.

I’m using a crappy broadband for 8 months now, and the worse situation I’ve personally witnessed is me firing on an enemy, losing connection to the server / getting a massive lag spike at this exact moment. There’s a quite significant gap between the connection loss and the actual response from the game, and everything in between will be accounted. When you connect back again, you might have been killed, but your personnal shots will be accounted anyway :O…

It’s really not hard to tell if someone is using damage boost hacks or not I reckon. In my opinion it’s the most obvious hack to spot, especially if they have it turned up so much that it’s killing people with 1 bullet.

Lagging or not, it’s the fact that in the first kill the nader kills him with 1 bullet and then his body is literally gibbed within 0.1 seconds after dying. It just isn’t physically possible to gib someone that fast even if you land consecutive headshots on them. That as the biggest give away.

I mean slow the clip down to 0.25 and watch it. The split second that first bullet touches him, he is instantly gibbed.

(watsyurdeal) #30

Me being the way I am, I don’t assume hacks, I just assumed it was lag

I don’t like calling people on something like that, more often than not it’s accusations thrown around without evidence. A witch hunt basically.

(doxjq) #31

In any normal circumstance I would agree, but the evidence is clear in this case and I won’t apologize for saying it if anyone thinks I am wrong

Honestly, I’ve experienced this situation from both sides of the coin (shooter and victim), and I know for a fact that a 200 ms ping with high packet loss can result into this. Even in the gibbing aspect. That’s why I would not be so sure. Both options are totally valid, people lagging being a bit more present than actual hackers, so without further evidence, I consider they’re lagging.

(Wolf_Darkrose) #34

if only if only there was a way to limit the ping on server… oh wait there is. too bad its hard to do. ( lol doesnt really matter the server makes up the in between when they shoot.)
