High Ping, NEED PATCH!?!

(-ScOuT--{A}--) #1

Ok, I have a 1.2 MegaBit connection to the internet, but i still get pings up to 999 when playing ET on anyserver. When i first join, my ping is about 400, then it goes slowly to 999, then it settles to a min of 150, not lower than that. But just a week ago, i was getting a steady 50 ping, like i should be, for the entire time i was in a server.

Four things changed since that great 50 ping time.

  1. Reinstalled XP
  2. Reinstalled my PPPoE Software
  3. Reinstalled ET
  4. Got Server Admin to my Clans Server(This is when i first saw the problem).

HELP!!!

Heres my post from a diff thread -

Ifurita found the cure in a diff forum, Ill paste the instructions for the cure, it worked for me, I just tested it …

Please do the following:

  1. Join a pb server
  2. enter “\cg_drawlagometer 1” into the game console: you will get a
new graph, important is the lower green part. If should be a small
line, if it is a mountain or a big green block you are having problems
  3. Enter com_maxfps, and note down the current value
  4. Change com_maxfps to some very low value, e.g. start with 41
  5. Wait a few seconds while you watch the net graph. You should see a
    change after a few seconds
  6. Increase com_maxfps by 10 or so (e.g. 50, then 60, 70 etc) and go to step 5).
  7. Once you hit a point where the net graph becomes green you need to
decrease the com_maxfps by 1, and go back to 5 as well.

After a bit of testing you should find some value which allows you to
play without lag, and you should also have a nice, small gree line.

thats a paste of anothers post from here —
