High Level Servers

(sparseHawk) #1

Can we get some high level servers? Love the game but i get frustrated when people don’t play objective.

(MissMurder) #2

There are level locked servers. How high are you thinking?

(Steve Martin) #3

past 8. that would be my starting point.

just my 2 cents

(GildedDark) #4

id say give it a few sections. 1-5 could have an section, 6-10, and 10+

(adeto) #5

How are high level servers going to help you with that? There are plenty of lvl 10+ players who just play sniper and fragger like rambo’s. Has nothing to do with their level. There are no options to make people play a certain way… Sucks but thats just how it is.

The level 6 cap is good to help really new players get a safer area to learn the game. But after from that reason there is no point in level based servers since people will just play how they want to in pubs.

(sparseHawk) #6

i’m tempted to say level 8 then i thought 9, but then i thought round it up to a nice little level 10 lol. Plus at level 10 it will aspire ppl to want to reach that level to play with the big dogs.

(Ribero) #7

I agree with the idea of some banding. 1-6, 7-11, 11-15 etc, but limit these to a few 6v6 and keep the bulk of servers unrestricted.

(sparseHawk) #8

Yeah that’s a good point adeto, my reasoning behind it is that it would greatly increase the chances of us playing with people that care a lot behind the objective, and also it is the only thing i can think of ensuring that my experience isn’t ruined from people that don’t play the game properly. If you can think of any any other suggestions i’m all ears. From my view point i say give lvl 10+ servers ago, can’t do any harm with a trial run.

(Amerika) #9

I would love 10+. It means you’ll be playing against people who have put in not just enough time to know what they are doing but to be pretty well rounded if they chose to be. And it would maybe help keep a lot of us from getting matched up with really low level people and have it not be fun for them.

(Szakalot) #10

1-6; 5-10 ; 9+

I think we need some overlap between the levels. Wouldn’t want to suddenly level up and runaway from friends type of thing

In any system of this sort, that is something which needs to be considered. Good point.

(Shackahn) #12

I am not sure I understand the benefit of this. The max level 6 servers I have no problem with. Let people learn the maps, gameplay and mercs etc

Trying to group people by their level is so restrictive and doest gurantee any sort of skill level or teamplay, it simply means they have been playing long enough to rack up some XP points.

People generally play on public servers to have fun and sharpen their shooting skills. You will find a greater focus on objective if you team up with some other players and go matchmaking.

(Tomme) #13

Similar to what @Shackahn has said above, I would hope they do not force level restrictions on us. While I agree level restricted servers can be helpful for players - forcing people into groups can be seriously detrimental in so many ways that I can’t be bothered to write them out, ha

(Szakalot) #14

No problem with having the choice of such restrictions right? If people want to play a game without anyone clueless joining in, a minimum level restriction might provide just that.

(fragon) #15

Maybe pub server with “matchmaking rank” restriction when ranks will kick in, that will gurantee you play vs players around your level, because “Player Level” is matter of time and not of skill or" obj caring"

(Glot) #16

Like fragon said. Level doesnt show the skill of the player. Some kind of ranks (be that ELO or something more sophisticated) will do better work.

In the server browser you will have list of players on the server with their ranks. and average server rank.
and probably an advisor “easy”, “skill matched server”, “too difficult”

(sparseHawk) #17

yeah so recently again i find myself in servers full of low levels, and the vast majority of them don’t know how to play objective which doesn’t make the game fun. I still stand by having higher level servers.

(D'@athi) #18

10+ should be simple enough. At it would get rid of people just trying the game and others learning it from servers with people really wanting a challenge.

But the question is, who will teach them lvl<10 what to do? Probably a really detailed explanation in the video at the beginning of the map on those lvl5max-servers and force the real “noobs” there?

That is a good point. Almost every game when I see a level 1 on my team I take a moment or two to explain things as they happen(and what needs to be done to proceed). It generally works out, but part of the issue is that the level 6 and lower servers has nobody there to do that. I think that is a huge flaw with the level locked servers.

If higher level players want a challenge you need to make ranked more prominent/incentivize it. Release stat tracking or give ranked a slightly higher reward. Level 10+ servers are only really needed because ranked has taken such a back seat so far in the game.

2 cents:

We don’t need high level restriction IF we will be able to host own servers, so to be honest, devs need to decide what we will get first: custom dedicated servers or official high level servers.
