hiding the tank gun

LOL, don’t know if this is already commonly know but I just found out how to hide the tank guns to get a bigger field of view :smiley:

I don’t think this gives a big advantage but would like to know whether this would be considered to be an exploit ?

cg_drawgun “0”?

Never actually tried it, probs summit else I guess? I actually find it harder to not show a gun than too. For some reason if the gun shows it seems ‘easier’ even tho its clearly not making a difference to nothing but the view.

Uuups, lol, yeah, that works too (never tried it actually bacause I usually play with the gun, too) but my ‘trick’ was to change FOV. With a FOV of 360 the gun drops so low that it’s hardly visible yet the FOV for the enviroment stays at 90 (as long as you are in the tank, leaving it with a FOV of 360 will make you sick paying really soon :smiley: )

So, I invented a complicated way of doing something simple… neaT! :clap: :banana:

This does indeed hide the Tank gun, but it also hides the muzzle flash as well I believe. I use cg_drawgun 0 for SMG and cg_drawgun 1 for all other weapons (which means I can’t see the Tank gun if I jump in with SMG selected (although selecting some other weapon when in the Tank cures it)).

I find aiming with cg_drawgun 0 is easier as I’m aiming at where the crosshair is pointing. With cg_drawgun 1 you sub-consciously aim down the barrel of the gun, which is less accurate.

also someone in a server ocne said try /test which knocks off any item your using even dyno or genade or pliers and i couldnt get it back without restarting lol

Well a lot of PunkBuster servers have ‘cg_fov in 90 120’ (for different reasons other than this tank gun thing) so regardless of whether or not you could consider it an exploit, you often can’t do it :wink:

There is a fish eye quake, but i don’t know of any fisheye q3

It also results in a tracer bug (at least for me), where the bullets seems to originate from the place you were when you last turned cg_drawgun off. :eek:

anyways…the cg_drawgun"0" - talk…it will also approve FPS/performance in general… in fact…all unecessary HUD items should be removed (if possible, ETpro gives some options)…also…the height of teamchat…and fade time… it all takes up CPU power…something more than others.
