Now that’s something new. Despite being the highest level in the server, the guy blame me not for my level, but for my loadout card.
But,… but, … but, … I have put so much love in my bamboo stoker… :’(

I really hate these kind of people. Sure I also get frustrated from time to time if my team is not performing well or the enemy team is just better. That’s part of MP games and DB is not an exception.
But why would someone want to insult other people via chat? What’s he going to achieve with doing that.
Blaming someone for having a certain loadout card is just ridiculously stupid imo.
Does this kind of shit only happens to me or what? Seriously, that wasn’t a restricted server. And the fuzzy response from Naxxus during the stream for “should we hide the level” really doesn’t go with me.
There’s a real problem. Bring a real argument on why the levels and why you use them.
And this is not just an isolate case.
People who are terrible at this game will always be the first to straw man someone for stupid reasons. His level, his cards, the merc they are using, they refuse to accept that THEY are the problem.
That said, I do think levels should be hidden because it serves no purpose but a reason to bash someone.
Back in my day, we didn’t have levels, we just played video games.

Saint! Now!

What I would like to see:
Instead of hiding the problem, how about working with it and trying to fix it?
Having servers with more restricted level ranges could help somewhat… but again levels don’t always mean much, so forcing someone who is level 10 to play with people their level might actually pit them against people who are far better at the game on average.
Sometimes I get team balanced and put on a team made up of the very lowest skilled players in the server who can’t get a single kill… because somehow the game feels that this is somehow fair… regardless of my level or skill, I cannot make up for an entire team, and we lose horribly.
The server browser (while i love having it) causes some issues, where you can have a server with 1 free slot, and join it as a high level player just to find that the rest are really low level. I’m not saying they should stop this from happening, because if they do I might not be able to get into a game anymore, but clearly this is part of the problem.
Maybe someone should make a poll to see what people use most. Match Making or Server Browser.
For me it doesn’t matter do I use server browser or do I use quick match making option, almost 99 % of the time I end to be in the server that is filled with low level players and if I’m lucky, there might be 1-2 high level players at the opponent team.
Even if we go to empty server with friends and be the first high level players in the server, still always right after low level players are joining to the server.
Yes, it’s nice to have some playing company, but I’m quite sure that I’m not the only one who is getting tired to carry almost every time low level players.
Though hiding entire level from everyone won’t help this situation at all.
The same thing would still keep happening, but this time I wouldn’t be aware how low/high players are in the server exactly.
I support the idea of making hiding levels optional.
Well again, the problem also stems from people not knowing how to play the game.
This game needs a better tutorial, asap.

Would be kind of nice actually if each merc had their own little tutorial segment, while that would take a lot of time to make, I think it would be extremely beneficial to some people.
Some games even have a “try” option on new characters before you buy them, which puts you into a single player experience so you can test them out and see if the character is to your liking before buying them.
Not exactly, other people expect someone who’s higher level to carry more weight than the rest, it just shows one has played more and might have a tad more knowledge of something that has been out for a while, but does that mean that this level 10, level 15 or god forbid another level 20ish don’t even understand how to use their defibs, detection tools or not to realize when one against 5 is a bad idea?

Well, no actually, what I was thinking was we have a tutorial the explains the roles for Skyhammer, Sawbonez, Proxy, Vasilli, and Fragger. Not quite sure on the details but each character’s role would be explained well and then at the end of the tutorial, you are given enough credits to buy two mercs before you hop in your first game. And this is a mandatory tutorial of course.
