I would hide scores and kdr until the end of the round, and even then you only get to see your own score. If you don’t win you have nothing to brag about anyway.
Hiding levels in Pubs
They maybe just joined later, hard to tell. Maybe SD should introduce the percentage of the game played as well, to reemplace the level.
I’d rather see an icon of win ratio of last 5 matches.
Red for < 1
Green for > 1.5
Yellow for in-between
So on the scoreboard you will only see Red icon, Green icon, Yellow icon next to player names.
It’s nice to remove prejudice from the scoreboard. It’d be even nicer if I can tell who is more likely to team work which win ratio tend to indicate.
Doing this would be rather pointless since it can be really really reeaallly misleading. One can be carried so hard that he wins all last 5 matches while playing Vassili with 2/15 or so KD in every match.
I mean, you can hide level all you want, but it wont stop things like this from happening:
All hiding level does is really just make sure nobody verbally attacks you, which you shouldn’t really care about anyways since this is the internet.
EDIT: Probably should have blurred the names at the top. Whoops.
I am not shaming those players in any way. They were actually a very nice bunch of people. You can tell because they sat through me killing them 111 times.

It might help as in many games, people will quit the game halfway through if they see a high level in front, having a snowball effect.
it will also psychologically help as people nowadays tend to complain and give up even before being hurt.

Wait, do people actually leave cause they see a high level doing very well? I don’t get peoples’ line of thinking. It could help I suppose. I am quite neutral on it. If you hide the levels, people will just look at my play time, or ask me what my level is since they can’t see it. Feels kinda… sketchy I suppose…
Idk man, it’s 2:00 AM.

They do leave, I have seen it many times. And you can hide your profile on steam.
I got told to quit the game and play comp once that was about it @,@
I rarely see people leaving lobby instantly because high levels are present.
I do see them leaving after being dominated in a match by high levels presumably to play elsewhere.
Low levels tend to stick around even when they lose badly if the best players doing the butt kicking were about their level.
I’ve witnessed brutal verbal abuse against high levels in about half the matches where they were present. The other half, people are cool with it unless team reshuffle happens to stack all the high levels on one side. At which point they’d all go GGDB auto-team balancing.
Hiding levels only to show it again at the end of the match will result in the same outcome as it is now: low levels leaving matches at the end and people getting all negative after an unfavourable team reshuffle for the next one.

Omit levels entirely in scoreboard and lobby.
agree on hiding levels for entire match.
the more ppl know about opponent the more excuses they will find.

To be fair that score is just bullshit levels of stupid. I would be mad at that.

He didn’t even stay to see I was playing sparks with like 5 kills. And lost.

What you seemed to have missed out on others saying, including myself, is that people quit the game because you’re a high level. Sometimes before a match even starts. And when they get upset then others get upset but they might not say anything. It’s just a negative thing to have in the game. So even if I am not bothered by the repeated abuse then others will be. That’s what really ticks me off. I’m pissing off some guy I don’t know who is trying to have fun, even if they are not being rational, all due to a number that has very few good reasons for being shown. Yes, people should be thicker skinned but what you want to be and what actually is are definitely two different things.
I get way less hate for putting up good numbers than I do for my level by far.
I really don’t see any reason to show levels during the game or in lobby, only show levels when the game is over and you’re looking at the match report.
This way people go in no preconceived idea of failure or just not being able to measure up.
Can this be discuss in next stream? @MissMurder @Faraleth
-The reason why there is a level in DB
-The reason why it is shown (showed? Damm, I am loosing my English speaking skills)
-The reason why it should not be removed
@Izzy next stream will be with Shoe and Smooth (core gameplay designer at Splash Damage), so I think that’s very appropriate
Pop the question in the stream question thread @stayfreshshoe made ^.^
@Faraleth Sure, will do, thanks a lot! Shall we start a poll to have numbers to discuss or would this be enough?
Saying “you shouldn’t care about what other people say because this is the internet” is the dumbest argument ever. It’s like saying, you shouldn’t care about having a low life expectancy because this is Somalia.
It still sucks and should be fixed. That’s not a fucking argument. You’re literally saying I’m too lazy to care, so nobody improve anything.
A poll wont work because the high levels who get abused are a minority.
But it might show that low level as well do not want to have their levels shown, which would make a consensus. That was my idea behind.
