dontcha watch Disney ? everything is possible
Hi from Nexon America!
Depending on the variety really, some people would spend loads just to get “that” look.
The difference with League and other games alike is you actually see your skin.
I do agree with what you said. But sometimes the perception of being p2w is enough for people to think it is p2w. To combat this they should have detailed stats on each character to show that it isn’t p2w.
Hi everyone,
Lot of great concerns, questions, and discussion here!
I’ll start out by setting some expectations on my participation on this forum. As some of you have pointed out, my schedule is pretty intense. Between flying around, managing a lot of people, and my family, I barely have time to do anything. I’ll be more of a sponge than a fire hose on this forum. For my own games, I read our forums all the time, but I don’t contribute as I would never be able to meet the expectations and questions represented by the many players of our games. At this project’s inception, I am here to tell you that Nexon America is with you and that we really care about this game. I think about playing it every day and I think that is a great sign. So, to be clear, I unfortunately can’t participate on this forum at a consistent level. Hopefully, you can all understand.
Most of what I want to talk about right now is in the initial post. Together with Splash Damage, we are serious about realizing our vision for the scale of this game. This means that the game will not be Pay-to-Win. It will be Play-to-Win or Free-to-Win.
I can also be more clear about our role and why Splash Damage has chosen us. Nexon America is currently a publisher for every game on nexon.net. We work with the developers of our game and basically tackle everything that is not core to the game development. In this way, we free up Splash Damage to fully focus on game development and the player needs. For example, we are showing the game at PAX this weekend and the team at Nexon America is doing most of the heavy lifting for running our booth and logistics there. At the same time, SD is working incredibly hard to create the right demo for players to experience. We will run things like Customer Service, Marketing, Billing, Infrastructure, etc. This being said, Nexon America and Splash Damage are doing our best to partner up in everything we do (vs. throwing things over the fence). If you know what to look for, you can easily tell when a developer and publisher are not aligned =) Things just start looking off and uncoordinated… ultimately, confusing and frustrating for the end user.
Another reason why Splash Damage has chosen Nexon America, and why Nexon America has chosen Splash Damage is the people. One thing that is incredibly important to both organization is that we are good and ethical people. I wholeheartedly believe ethics will be a guiding principle for how we run Extraction. Sure, we are a business and need to make money. However, we should run a business that our players’ are proud of / feel good about. I feel good about our ability to deliver on this commitment with Splash Damage. How do you do this? It’s starts with the people that work on the games and both companies have some very good hearted people.
I see that there are concerns about Nexon America’s other games and how our practices will impact Extraction. One thing to realize is that all of our other games serve the needs of multiple territories. They were made in Korea for an Korean audience and then localized to meet the needs of the international partners over many years. At the end of the day, Nexon America is one of those partners and I can admit that there are challenges to fully tailoring a game to meet the needs of a local market. Rather than get into what practices we will copy paste for Extraction, it is more valuable to focus on Extraction’s target market… YOU. Both Splash Damage and Nexon America are working and in hand to meet your needs while creating a sustainable business. You can take confidence in that this game will be tailored for you.
There are a lot of good questions here. Unfortunately, I can’t answer them all. Hopefully, you can understand. A game launch has to have some secrets =)
I just landed in LA from Europe last night, and I will be flying out to PAX to support our first public reveal with Locki and his team. Bit tired, but excited. Wish us luck!
Cheers,
MoneyPenny
word. let us know how PAX goes. curious to hear about the publics interaction with a playable demo
I will drop a phrase that I hated to hear from my parents because I always knew the outcome. “We’ll see.”
Congratulations Splash Damage and Nexon! Good Luck!
To forum fellas… Can’t recognize respect? It’s what they are giving to us. It’s that hard to be respected?

Respect and communication is great and I think things will be great. Still there is room for concern about how the game will end up. We’re going to have to wait and see as more solid details come down the pipeline.
Hi-Rez Studios was super fun, and high-fiving the community before the release Tribes: Ascend… Then they dropped support for the game entirely (after explicitly saying they wouldn’t), and directly insulted their largest community. However this was already noted behavior from their last game. SD has a much better track record on that front. Not the same story for publishers like Activision and Bethesda, which seemed to really damage both game’s release and support.
Cautious optimism.
