For what it’s worth, you might think about what you can do materially about this. I can’t edit the map, I can’t control who runs the map … the the best option is to go after the server admin who run the map in their rotations.

So why bother getting a lot of people worked up and mad. I think you have made your point that the use of a mosque may be offensive to muslims and I’m sure everyone who reads this will think about that in their future mapping efforts

Personally, the more attention you bring to this, the more people are going to want to download and play the map. The map is 3-years old and personally, I didn’t think anyone was playing it any more.

and I told you that I cannot. I don’t have the files that would allow me to change it, nor does anyone have any ability make server admins take maps off their servers. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that more server admins put the map up just to see what the fuss is about.

So what is your proposal now?

Assuming I was able to change the map (assuming I’d just delete the mosque in the middle and leave a great big hole), how do you and the Saudi media propose chasing down those 10,000 people and getting them to change out the map?

Oddly enough, I started out on this Istanbul-inspired map because I was very impressed by the city and the architecture there, especially the mosques.

Well, since you’ve been so reasonable, I think I have a fix. I edited the sound script to play the “Istanbul” theme instead of the call to prayer. It’s packed up as a .pk3 and is named so that it the .sps file inside SHOULD overwrite the original. All you have to do is convince everyone who’s running the server to drop this supplemental pk3 into their /etmain directories and it should overwrite the original script.

The only problem is that I don’t have any place to upload the file.
