I keep getting this error message for the game ET. It says “Valid Cdkey not registering with the GuidAuth server” then it wont let me in the server. Ive uninstalled the game around 3 billion times and even redownloaded the game. :banghead:
Does anybody know how to fix it?
Oh and one more thing. How do I get etpro to run when I start up et?

Try /pb_cdkeyreg or deleting the file etkey in your etmain folder to get a new key.

The problem is probably firewall related, the guidauth server can’t read your file.

To run etpro, add +set fs_game etpro to your shortcut.

where do I add etpro, in the target bar?

For valid CDkey: Whenever I get that error I just connect to a random server then disconnect and connect to the original server and it works :slight_smile:

also, is there a way to boost up the max_cvar settings? My friend made this script and its got some cool stuff up in it, not hacks or anything, but theres a lot of binds etc. in it. It works for him and some other guys that have it and they dont get the max_cvar error message that shuts down their et.

Nope, that is hard coded in the engine. All you can do is try to find ways to make your scripts use less cvars.

ah damn… Ok so I did that deletion of the etkey file and the pb_cdkeyreg thing and I still get the error message of “Valid Cdkey not registering with the GuidAuth server” and I have never gotten that message when I played the unpatched game, but now I play the patched. So does anybody know any other alternatives to this problem? Ive reinstalled, redownloaded and yeah it doesnt do anything.

Are you using any firewall software ?
I found that my ZoneAlarm sometimes caused this (but not consistently).
