Hi I tried to view a demo.
I use gamestv.org click on request and have to connect the IP just like any other server.
~ connect IP
the message I get is incorrect exe file.
I tried patch 2.6, 2.6b and 2.6 with patch selector but it won’t help.
does anyone have a idea how to fix this?

why do you join an IP to view a demo?
Anyway, the most occurring error with demos is that if you made a demo in etpro you have to put it in your etpro demos, load up the mod and then watch the demo otherwise it won’t work.
Aka demos seem to be mod dependent, making a demo in etpro and watching it in etmain won’t work
is it a demo you yourself has taken?
by using /startrecord and /stoprecord?
if thats the case then the demo is already placed the correct spot, and all you need doing is to start W:ET
load the mod that you was using when demoing, or you could enter the server where demo was taken and then disconnect, that will also load the correct mod.
then click on Replays and choose the demo you wanna see.
ETTV is only for seeing live streamed games or for seeing a demo recorded there and only shown there

I I clicked “watch now”, but when I go to gamestv.org/live, all I see is a list of live matches being played.
When I click on any of those I get match details, but nothing streaming.
When I try and demand replay; it prompts me that the “operation is completed”.
It gives me a server address, I type it in address bar, doesn’t work, I’ve tried connecting
in game to the server and I get an error. Now a message reads I’ve already watched it “1 times”,
but I haven’t been able to get this to work.
Really lost here.
The FAQ doesn’t really cater to newbs on this subject.
I basically need instructions for someone who knows nothing about gamestv and how it works.
This is frustrating, I’ve known about this site for about 2 years and was never
been able to figure this out during etqw comp. I’m back trying to mess with it, but no luck.

Make sure u have the latest ET.exe version (2.60b) and the latest ETPRO version (3.2.6)
When it says “server ready” copy (control+C) the entire IP (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX : XXXXX)
start ET, open console,type: /connect XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX: XXXXX <-IP u copied (use control+V to paste)
normally it should work.
If it doesn’t, take a screenshot of the error given, would help a bit.
Bottom right in console it reads: 2.60
When I load et-pro ,it still reads 2.60;
so it looks like I need these.
I found the 2.60b patch at ‘enemy-territory-barracks’
so I’m downloading that as I type this.
I don’t see an et-pro update for some reason

Or get the Wolfenstein ET Ultimate Installer, it comes with 2.60b, etpro 3.2.6 and a few more mods + most of the scrimmaps need to join a ETTV Server.

Normally joining an ETTV server lets you download the etpro mod + the neccessary maps (if you don’t have them).
Yeah but most etpro players has allowdownload to 0.
Also its kinda daft to ahng in download mode if the game is on and they changes maps etc etc, with a bad connection game might be over before you can see.
I have download disabled when i set my ettv server up, both on my main and on the ettv slave.

LOL, I can download a map and be in the game before the warmup is over? Downloads in ET are pretty much as fast as in a browser for me (500kb/s - 1.5mb/s) + no extra hassle of having to extract the map or mod and go through explorer etc…

Its not normal for people watching ettv to download files from ettv servers, ppl interested in ettv has the files before they connects. which is why my ettv server dosent allow ppl to download.
and yeah if the redirect is made as it should and the connection is ok, you can download fast.
But not from an ettv server, thats just…

Agreed, but this person doesn’t have the files or doesn’t know what files he should have to watch ETTV.
Most top ETTV servers allow download of the missing files and then u can spectate the match after a /reconnect.
He’s just asking what he needs in order to watch them.

If that’s the only way to get it, do need to uninstall first?

Incorrect exe means that you aint using a 2.6b which is the only 1 running ETPro 3.2.6 afaik
If you use that download, just try and install it as a second install and see if you now can join the ETTV server you wants, btw it will work.
If you do have the 2.60b ET and only are missing the ETPro 3.2.6 then simply join a random public sertver with that mod running and you should be ready to join.
