**HELP** " unknown BSP format IBSP, version 47 " RTCW SP Problem !

(William Faure) #1

Sorry but I need help : i’ve done a RTCW SP Map and when I
compile the BSP to AAS with BSPC, it says :

" unknown BSP format IBSP, version 47 "

Please I need help because I have been stuck in my
project with this problem for two days now.

“I’m French”

Please help me this project is very important for me ! Anyone ?

Hello Titeuf. It’s nice to see another sp mapper emerge from the shadows.
About the error you’re receiving, I got this error before, but sadly I forget what the cause was. Just be patient, and someone else more knowledgeable than me can help you.

When compiling with q3map2, you must specify the parameter “-game wolf”

(William Faure) #5

Okay #Eugeny, i’ll try with “-game wolf” .

(William Faure) #6

#Eugeny - I tried the parameter you did give me (-game wolf) but it didn’t work. Was it the only solution to resolve my problem ?

Also, -game wolf was already in the command line. I’m trying to compile the BSP to AAS with BSPC-GUI but it says the same thing : " unknown BSP format IBSP, version 47 "

  • Is there someone to help me ? *

So you are trying to create the AAS for an existing bsp?
I suppose the bsp has version 47. (As many games exist using q3map2 and bsp, there are different versions)

Looks like your aas compiler does not know wolf!
If I recall correctly, the latest GTKRadiant has the aas compiler included, http://icculus.org/gtkradiant/downloads.html
But maybe not.

I think one of the guys who already made maps for RTCW should know a better solution to this; I have never made maps for RTCW.
I suppose you should try using the bspc executable which is delivered with the RTCW mapping tools.

(William Faure) #10

Okay thanks for your reply #ailmanki, I’m downloading the latest GTKRadiant now.

(ronboy) #11

Does the newest Radiant even support Rtcw? I know it supports ET.

(William Faure) #12

@ailmanki I tried GtkRadiant 1.6 and this is not the right solution :

As you can see on this screen of the editor, there’s no AAS Compiler included and there’s no AAS build command. Also, I’ve been searching in all the folders and I just found the BSPC tool.

I don’t think the solution of my problem is in GtkRadiant 1.6. I’ll keep it but the official website of Radiant says that only QuakeLive, Quake III Arena, Urban Terror, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Jedi Academy are supported by Gtk Radiant 1.6.

Whatever, Gtk Radiant 1.6 is not the solution. Someone can help me to fix my problem ?

For more information, here is my problem : i’ve done a RTCW SP Map and when I
compile the BSP to AAS with BSPC, it says :

" unknown BSP format IBSP, version 47 "

Please HELP-ME !

(ronboy) #13

Strange, Quake 3 Arena came out before Rtcw (I think). I wonder why Radiant would support Quake 3, but not Rtcw.

(William Faure) #14

You’re right… Do you have a solution to fix my problem ? Because i’m really sad. The one that will give me the solution, I will put him in the credits of my game.

(William Faure) #15

I know this is strange, but this is true : look at this screen ->

(ronboy) #16

A quick google search revealed that Quake 3 Arena did indeed come out before Rtcw, making it older than Rtcw. I hope that support does get added for Rtcw, although I probably wouldn’t be interested in it since Q3map2 is the only compile option in the new versions of Radiant. And as we all know, Q3map2 and Rtcw sp are not meant for each other…

(William Faure) #17

I’m really sad to be stuck. Do you have an idea that can resolve my problem ?

(ailmanki) #18

GTKRadiant’s q3map2 has support for -wolf switch. I don’t know if the gamepacks are included with the latest download… or any other kind of configuration for rtcw. But it certainly works with it. As the sourcecode for rtcw is there.

I think your problem is the bspc executable. If it isnt included with the newer GTKRadiant, go looking for the one which was included for RTCW…
There its in the Return To Castle Wolfenstein SDK

(William Faure) #19

It works, thanks ! I have placed the BSPC.exe of GtkRadiant 1.6 inside the BSPC-GUI folder.
Then, did select the BSP file and did convert it to a AAS file.

But I have only mymap.aas in the main/maps folder.
I shouldn’t have mymap_b0.aas and mymap_b1.aas ?

Waiting for your answer @ailmanki !

(ailmanki) #20

No idea about that, I would highly recommend to use the RTCW SDK bspc , and not the one from GTKRadiant 1.6.
Inside that pack are files which are explicitly for RTCW and bspc.
