HELP! Scripting in UPPERCASE

(=SAT=JamesBOMB) #1

Okay, I got some binds to say stuff like “Be Affraid… Be Very Affraid!!!” and when I try to put them in my etconfig file in the profile folder they always come out lower case… how can I permanently bind stuff so as to use both uppercase and lowercase letters…

Every time I try to re-write it the game overwrites my file all in lowercase!!!

I want this:
bind KP_LEFTARROW “say be affraid… be very affraid!!!”

to come out like this:
bind KP_LEFTARROW “say Be Affraid… Be Very Affraid!!!”

…and to stay that way even if I reboot…

I’ve tried putting the binds in another .cfg file and then exec-ing that file and it always says “couldn’t exec that file”.

HELP!

Answered on the www.enemy-territory.com forums, clicky

afraid has only 1 “F” btw.

(Kendle) #4

Yes, but he wants them to be VERY afraid!

Right… sry… french is 1st language.

Still doesn’t work… I create an autoexec.cfg with UPPERCASE in it and it still comes out lower case on my screen… what am I doing wrong. I still have the same binds in the etconfig file though… would it help to remove them?

I’d imagine. Always a good idea to delete etconfig.cfg when you change something in autoexec.cfg.

 OMG still doesn’t work… I removed all the etconfig files in all folders installed an autoexec.cfg file with the uppercase words and et still lowers the case… I also tried this:

I go into the console in ET and type a bind like:

/bind KP_DEL “say ^1W^7ell ^1P^7layed^1!”

and then it comes out as “well played!” in lower case anyway…

WTF…

Game designers PLEASE!!!

What I always do is just:
/seta SENTENCE1 “Hello And Stuff!”
/bind key vstr sentence1

(IPvD) #10

Majin’s got the ticket, although he left out the actual say command itself in his variable, and afaik ET doesn’t have a “Hello” command :stuck_out_tongue:
You could use:

set beafraid "say Be Afraid... Be Very Afraid!!!"
bind KP_LEFTARROW vstr beafraid

Copy&Paste-able

If it keeps giving you trouble you could just post what you want bound, and I’ll post back the scripting for it, seeing as you asked nicely and all
