Thanks for nothing u gotta be a yank

To answer your question: the latest patch is 2.60, out for quite a while. But as long as you can connect, that is probably not the problem.

B0rsuk is right on 1 fundamental thing: we need more info before we can even attempt to help you. So don’t act so angry straight way.

Try shutting down CS before playing ET. If that doesn’t help, just post your address and I’m sure many of us would be more than glad to visit you personally and help your lag issue.
Other than that, everything else on your system seems fine.

It’s a very good advice if you’re smart enough to listen. All except most bored people avoid nondescript ‘help’ threads like this.

If you can’t be bothered to take even the few seconds to write short, meaningful subject, we can’t be bothered to take even a few seconds to think about your problem.

What have you changed since you last played.
Actually I think if you can connect to a server you don’t need to install a patch (it seems that you have already installed all that is needed).
Have you checked for spyware / malware / viruses?
Are there any programs running in background?
That’s the only reasons I see that your game is running slower.
May the internet connection (your internet provider) got “worse” (not sure if this is possible).

Ok guys here goes…it’s been about 2 months since a played as i been away working,Every time i go on a server after abour 2 seconds of choosing axis or allies the game freezes and jumps for about 5 seconds then either lets me carry on with mad lag or says ‘server disconected for unkown reason’
is it punkbuster at all i havent updated that for about a yr?

It would really help if you gave us some information about your hardware. Problems you described are typical for ATI Radeon cards (with Winxp SP2 and Cataclyst later than 4.09). And for some combination of GeForce FX serries and certain driver. I know it only because my friend experiences freezes with his Radeon x700 pro, so I did a small research.
The problem is triggered by Punkbuster memory scan. It doesn’t happen on servers with PB disabled. It’s especially common if you use nforce3 motherboard.
If that’s your problem, check this thread http://www.hardwareforum.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=120 for fixes, and hardware/drivers causing it.

Of course, there’s no way to know for sure, because you didn’t care enough to post your hardware specs.

You should always update PB.
Normally it’s done automatically if you join a server.
In the directory /pb of your wolfenstein:ET directory there’s a little program that you can start via Windows Explorer: pbweb.exe
Run this program while you are connected to the internet.

Did you try a reinstall yet? If you havent, then try it and delete all the small .pk3’s from your Etmain folder in progamme files while your at it.

I don’t think that’s the case. I didn’t play W:ET since my Debian broke. I resumed playing when I installed Kubuntu. My W:ET install survived repartitioning of my hdd and OS reinstall(I left /home partition alone, of course); all was updated flawlessly when I connected to a server.

Problems he described really sound like ones from Radeon/nforce3 combination. A lot of people get similar annoyances, and there are dozens of documented cases in forum topic I linked in my previous post.
