HELP Please

When i start up et it asks me if i want to ‘update the game’ as there is a new vesrion.I click yeah and it sends me to there web site i have downloaded there new 2.60 patch but when i go to install it it says it cant find a valid ET game on my pc,dont understand this as i downloaded wolf from the net can anyone help me???

You can fix this in 2 ways:

#1 Install ET again
#2 Manual extract the patch files in your current ET dir.

i tried to manually do it but it still says the same thing…

Chronicles that sounds good but what do i do with that excalty im pretty crap when it comes to pc talk??

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory]
"InstallPath"=""

Copy/Paste the above in a new txt file and save it as a .reg
now just double click the .reg and run the installer again

save it where? et main ?ok i copyied the above exaclty and saved it as a ‘text doc’ in my et main…now wat? i clicked on the patch and it does the same thing again

No no no :smiley:

Open notepad, Copy/Paste the code into the empty txt file,
save it as fix.reg . It doesn’t matter where the file is located just make sure it has .reg as its extension

Double click the file. If it pops up with a registry question all went ok.
Now run the installer again.

Ok, i right clicked my mouse it offers me to create word document or text document… no notepad,i looked in my et files theres one doc called ‘description’ that is empty apart from the word ‘enemy territory’ in it…
dont get angry mate i really dont understand this…??
i did copy paste it as fix.reg…in a word document and double clicked it and it just shows me what i created dont ask me a question

Also i just found a notpad at the bottom with like a green bubble on it called ‘fix’ i click on it and it asks me about registary thing like u said…i opened it with edit and pasted what u gave me there,came out and tried to run patch ‘still no good mate’

Just a quick sum-up: When someone is refering to .txt or text document they usually mean a file created with notepad.exe, if you right click and choose “new text document” notepad will be started.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory] 
"InstallPath"=""

If you create a “new text document” with notepad (dont use word) and paste the above code in it, and save it as fix.reg <-- it will become a registry script which you can run by double clicking on it.

If you’re having troubles with creating a valid .reg file, try downloading mine.

Mate thanks a load for that i downloaded it installed it lovely but then…it reads 'file c:/documents and settings blah blah blah could not be opened in et main…error…god knows why any thoughts?

To be able to help you, we need a clear description of your problem, don’t use blah blah but give us the exact error msgs. i assume that you get an error when installing the 2.60 patch.

Ok mate this is what is says after i install it then it gets to 100% then thhis banner comes up saying did not install and this message comes up…
the file c:\documents and settings|peter jackson.NONE.D9HUM1965C\Desktop\wolf-enterritory ver.inf could not open

When running the installer you need to ‘browse’ select your enemy territory folder, which is usually on C:\Program FilesWolfenstein - Enemy Territory\
Unless you’ve installed ET to your desktop, since that’s where the error is refering to. It can’t open version.inf since its not located there but probably in C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\ :slight_smile:

thanks a lot for the help i di what u said,i did have et stored on my desk top,i have now changed it to and put it back to program files - et …then i installed the patch and browsed it to there and clicked ok and it still says the same thing excalty…!!!1

i took it out of my et main and put in into the et folder

Fcuk me the patch will NOT let me play on the server i play on all the time,mate how do i take the patch off i hjave tried deleting it

You can fix that by ‘downgrading’ if you download ET Patch 1.02 from the following url, you’ll be playing in no time :slight_smile:

or just get one of the patch selectors available on most ET Resource sites
