help needed for zombie survival mod

zombie mod for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

All players in one team, zombie bots in the other
each player has a limited number of lives, once they have run out of lives they join the zombie team.
players on the zombie team can run and jump whenever they want.
zombies can’t use weapons :wink:
headshots do much more damage.
zombies regenerate hp. (so if you would shoot them in the stomach they would take some damage, but regenerate it fairly quick.
so you can kill them if all players shoot simultaniously at one zombie, but you can kill one on your own bij only shooting at its head.)

to do:
-make the zombie bots
no need for really complex behavior. they walk and when they see you they start running at you.
maybe some mobbing. and Braaaaains!!

-new weapons:
baseball bat
shotgun
chainsaw (?)
molotov cocktails (don’t know why you would want to use them on a zombie, but yay burning zombies! :D)
axes
new models for the sniper rifle, thompson and pistols.
new model for the panzerfaust

-new playermodels
zombies :wink:
civilians (?) (could also be a new skin)

-new levels
stuff like a graveyard, hounted house, deserted town, etc.

team members needed:
-mapper
-modeler
-scripter/coder
-leader

I can model the weapons and the more basic objects, but I need someone that can make the more complex thing such as the playermodels.

I would really like to make this mod, please help me :stuck_out_tongue:

-edit- forgot to tell some stuff about the objectives;
the zombies will come in waves, and the players must withstand an x number of waves before they have won.
players get xp for every kill they make and for every wave they have survived

I’m currently developing a similar mod for Medal of Honor inspired by the Urban Dead MMORPG, which works on a slightly different basis - the players are both survivors and zombies, every killed survivor becomes a zombie, and survivors can revivify the zeds with syringes.

I was actually thinking of porting it to a newer and more popular game, such as ET.

I could code the gameplay part, however, I’ve got a few high priority things I need to finish first. Will stay tuned to this thread. :wink:

first of all, i like the idear!
4 me it sounds like a total conversion.
Maybe i could make some Maps for that. Im not the best mapper but i have some idears about zombiemaps :smiley:

BTW, what about the Medics and the other classes or the Ammo/Health Racks?

maybe its possible to make that once you have been ‘killed’ by a zombie theres still a short while before you really become a zombie and in that short while the medic can cure you?
and maybe put the ammo and health rackets all over the map, with a bit longer recharge time so you must not waste ammo and you would constantly need to move as a group (loners get eaten :wink: ) to the next ammo/health rack
maybe engineers can barricade doors and the cov-ops can snipe
field ops maybe has limited ammo packs wich he can restock at an ammorack

i think that the majority of your work lies in the weapons since they have to be modeld animated from scratch

there are lots of rtcw models that are not of soldiers and there is a tool that will convert them to work in ET perfectly and very easily. The ones i can think of are, bar maid, worker, scientist… and i think there are others

anyway you have enough players there and to make zobie version you just need a re worked face skin and some blood here and there

you could even steal some of the zombie attacking animations to use rather then having the funny looking knife stabing

When you have one or two weapons made and some new players running round i think then you will be able to get a lot more interest from a mapper and a coder. I think if you got far enough a coder who had already writen more complex bot code would easily be able to trim it down to siut your needs

drop me a PM later and ill c what if i can help you out with the models and if all goes well i might be willing to make a map or two

also perhaps you would be better making all classes the same so its just an all out survival and anyone can pickup a weapon an try to use it

as for some above by the way hes talking about players standing x number of zombie waves i think hes trying to get at that players are civilainas and zombies are bots

yes, the players are cicilians and the zombie are bots. though when a player has lost all of his lives he will turn into a zombie for the rest of the match.

In my MoHAA mod the team with most members alive when the timelimit is hit wins.

hmm… both are good ideas for different game modes
my original idea was that after you had defeated all the zombie waves you would have won, and if you didn’t defeated them, well, than the zombies won :wink:
but I alsolike your ideas :smiley:

I think if the mod/map have thease features, it will be a hit:

  • Zombies just keep on coming, from various angles and areas.
  • The humans may die, but they respawn quickly, e.g. after 10 sec.
  • The humans do not have to run far to get from the spawn to the area where the zombies and the humans meet (i.e. where the floor is filled with blood and gibs).
  • The number of spawning zombies is in line with the number of humans on the server (i.e. even teams).
  • The zombies are trying do do something, like building/destroying something or trying to get past the humans. For example, they strive to get at least 50 living zombies past the humans to some sort of goal area behind the humans.
  • The humans fight desperately to kill as many as possible and to just stop those oncoming zombies from doing their deeds (building/destroying stuff and/or passing the humans).
  • Map ends when timelimit is hit (zombies win) or the humans have killed 500 zombies (humans win) or as thefatladiesings says after the humans have defeated all waves of oncoming zombies (humans win).
  • In game, players should be able to see on a monitor or similar the remaining time, number of killed zombies and/or the number of defeated waves.

It will be a hit beacuse it is fun to just frag away.

My idea might not be so great cause if there are only 2 players left they might starting teamkilling to win ^^

It would be fun if there were NO ammo cabinets and that fieldops would be needed (like rtcw times)
It would be cool that explosions would blast the zombies backwards (like jumping on a team mates nade while team kill is disabled) but the explosion wouldnt hurt the zombie much (only headshots would)

yeah, I think it can be best played with friendly fire off (you wouldn’t want to waste your precious ammo on your friends back anyway, would you?), but with two players left you can always push the other player in the zombie mob :wink:
and enemies can already be blasted backwards in regular ET, I can remember several matches where I’ve been thrown trough the level by a grenade :wink:

i think for the first stage at lease thinging up complex game idea is a bit unesasary when one zombie team trying to kill a smaller human team with one life is chalenging enough

im not sure about giving player ability to get ammo soeaily from cabinates and filed ops since then there isnt the real rist of running low and being forced to change tatics to suit lower raking weapons or mele types

Hi, I worked on this mod for the last few days with some help from carnage.
the playermodels are already changed, except the heads.
all models use the same heads at the moment, and we need to change that.
for that we need a coder who can make it that each class has their own kind of head

so we are looking for a coder, if you are interested reply in here or send me a pm

Zombie mod sounds pretty interesting!
If killed-player turned zombie, can he control anything?
It would be fun if it moves automatically toward sane players and zombie players try to prevent it by moving different direction with a messy view like a silly quad. :uhoh:

i think all the zombies are bots and players are humans as fas as i can tell. When a human dies thats it, when a zombie dies not much different just there are a lot more
