we have tested the rtcw model in the game and theya re all working fine

the main thing with characters at the moment is transfering and creating a new aniamtion setup for the zombie character so they dont walk and atttack like the plaeyr characters

it almost done as we have walking running and stance poses that are likly to be on the only ones actuly used in the game since the zombie are planed to be cannon foder in large numbers that just try to overwhiel you. from whta i understand so far anyway so it all could change

were kinda in need of a texture artist though for a ranage of skins from fairly easy ones where the existing rtcw zombie skin is made to look more like a person inards (kinda like someone who was skined but still alove but with a lil rotting flesh here and there) to more difficult ones for the player skins

im not sure anything justifies any screen at the moment since it all looks like it did in rtcw. All the work so far has been pretty much in decoding all the animation and model info and transfering it to ET

tbh i dont like any ideas regarding weapons and environment
IMO it should be in RTCW crypts and ruins environment
with original ET weapons ( no silly b-bat, chainsaw, molotov… )

from discusions the setting weapons have been changed to the 60’s for perahps a exeplored setting. Although perahps many would not see this as the perfect setting for zombie horror if done right im sure it can look total creepay. Also with a new setting hopefuly there wont be any expections to live up to from other games with simialr settings

bt if someone is wanting to make a rtcw version of this i have a just about a pk3 with working player classes and a working zombie class each using seperate animation settups

if a coder wanted to finish this off then your gona need

  • add a new invisible weapon working like the knife for the zombe attacks
  • some kind of AI for zombies and spawn points etc
  • rearange the team setups and weapon loadouts
  • make only allied team avaidable/ prob want a new hud for that

and you need a map but the rtcw crypts could be pretty hard to recreate and i dont think that there is a source map for any crypt levels

i remember back in the day when i started the quake 2/resident evil mod. at first i started with the developement kit but when the full source got released(damn that was an exciting time) i scrapped the mod and went for a total conversion. sadly the entire idea got scrapped when i switched to linux(not sad about that at all). i didn’t know where to start to get the game to compile without msvc6. i’ve still got the mansion map and some creature models i made floating around on a disk somewhere

i resurrected the idea when i started mapping for ET. the new idea was to have all the creatures from the game be playable(zombies, dogs, spiders, hunters, etc.) by the opposing team. the objective based ET seemed almost perfect for the job.

prolly would be copyright issues so i’m not gonna bother.

i would definitely go for a good zombie mod or series.

This sound very LOTD ish but cool coz ET Uber Pwns. Maybe you have it so theres lots of waves like you said and humans only respawn at the end of the wave. then a few seconds “warmup” then the next wave. but at least 1 human has to survive the wave. i really want to see this come out! i would play it tons lol. :banana:

yeah, I already had in mind that the players would only respawn after wave (it would suck to respawn in the middle of a group of zombies, wouldn’t it? :wink: )
but unfortunetely me and carnage didn’t have much time to work on this mod for the last couple of weeks.
And we’re still looking for a coder that can help us make the bots or the gameplay
and a modeller or skinner would also come in handy as the whole modeling thing for ET is still very new for me…

We’re still looking for people to help us with this mod:
-a modeller (or someone who can teach me how to do all the weapon animating for ET)
-a coder for the bots
-a coder for the gameplay changes
-and a texture artist to change the default skins of the models

Well tell exactly what you have in mind and i might help you a bit with this…

I say might because of three reasons:
a) I am not the best coder in the world
b) I dont have much time the next few weeks
c) I must like what I need to code, otherwise i get bored too soon :wink:
