Help needed, ET crashes at random intervals.

Okay, I’ve tried just about EVERYTHING, but after playing for a while(usually a map or two in campaign) the game just crashes to desktop. It happens with both the windows and the linux versions.
My specs are:
Intel pentium 4 2400 MHz
nVidia GeForce 4 mx440 64mb
512mb ddr RAM
Via motherboard

I’ve tried running pbweb, I have the latest drivers and patch for my game, my video card, my motherboard chipset. I’ve tried messing with the agp BIOS settings, reinstalling the game(heck I installed it on linux just to check). I did try everything in the faqs, and my game still crashes after a while, no error message.

Can anyone help?

does it happen if you run other games? If so, or if you dont run other games to be able to check, try taking the side door off the case and running like that, to see if it’s a cooling/airflow problem.

I have my case off, and it doesn’t happen with any other games, even ones that are more graphically intense than this one. I even have a floor fan pointed at the computer.
I’ll try testing the temperature after the crash though, thanks, I didn’t think of that.

Yeah, sounds like a temperature thing to me, I had that problem with ‘TRON 2.0’ with high settings.

Dude, floor fanning your computer with the case off ? I hope you vacuumed first. :suspicious: well, did ya ? hehehe

Try going into your BIOS and lowering the AGP setting to x2 or x4 … worked for a friend of mine

What about the dedicated gpu fan ?( is the fan on the graphics card still working ? )
