Help! I'm stuck with people online that haven't played in days, so now I can't play?

(TokenWhiteGuy) #1

I am absolutely loving this game (Rad Soldiers) but I can’t play as often now because most of the online games that I’m currently in the other person hasn’t played for four days. Since you can only have 10 concurrent online games going at once I was wondering what I’m supposed to do about this predicament that I’m in. I’d love to keep playing this great game but 7/10 of the online games I’ve got going right now haven’t moved in days.

This is something that really needs to be fixed and if there is already a fix or way around this problem please let me know because I want to play more online games soon.

Thanks for your time and if this has already been mentioned somewhere then I’m sorry but I couldn’t find it.

You can make 20 games and those inactive games will be deleted in a week. However, IMO, this is the biggest problem of RAD soldiers. I played hundreds of games and could finish only ~30% of those games. Some people just did not play at all, some other people stopped playing once they realized that there was no chance of winning.
I think something should be done for this problem. Until then, I think you have to be patient or be a friend of someone who actively playing the game.

As EL-CO says, inactive games automatically expire after 7 days.

Incidentally, this issue is something we’re working hard to tackle. If you have any suggestions for what you’d like to see, post them up!

I started to befriend the opponents that take their turns fast and play them again. That helps a bit. But I want to fight more than the same 20 ppl so I still get stuck with these. Perhaps a delete game option after 48 hrs or a warning click giving the player 24 hours to react or auto forfeit. This option could be open after 1-3 days of inactivity.

I have a suggestion for this…
What if you can forfeit the match outside of the game?
This will free up a spot for you to start another. It would have the same results as you going in and forfeiting it from inside the game.
If there is a game that is taking way too long then you can just cancel it and the coins go to the opponent. That way you can play more and get more coins anyways…

Thoughts?

Is there any idea of a ‘Completion Bonus’ right now, where if you completed the game and lose, you’re treated to some sort of “Good Sport” bonus coinage?

I’ve only got 2 games going right now, one which I’m losing hard (to a certain orange name, who seems to be letting up - tsk tsk) and another game I have going where I I went in 2v3.

The latter, the guy was responding almost immediately, trying to make short work of me… but when he tried to finish me off and I instead took out 2 of his guys, he stopped playing. People are going to be sore losers either way if they know they can’t win… so there needs to be an incentive to make people finish games they know they’re going to lose. Whether it’s a ‘reputation ranking’ that gives them some coin or xp modifier, or just a normal bonus (but one not equal to the winner, of course).

Also, 7 days seems a bit extreme for an idle forfeit. 3 days max would be my recommendation.

well I do not know how much you looked into it - but the loser always gets coins- equally to his done work.
The winner gets more coins (as far as I experienced always more then the loser) but it may be up to 60% - 40%
As far as I noticed it depends on the HP-% all your characters have left at the end of the game (the loser has 0% , the winner has X% )
mostly the coin rate is something like 1/3 2/3 - so you always get coins
only if the game expires or you give up the guy who did the last turn gets all coins - the other one none.

and I think 7 days are fine.
I sometimes (like 1 of 10 weeks) just cannot play for nearly a whole weak - I even cannot bring up 5mins to answer 5 turns or something like that.
3 days is just too short.
well, at least I feel like that.

Yeah I figured the loser would get some coins or whatever, but when I lost one of the challenge missions (for example) my exp barely made a dent (and I just barely lost). I didn’t know how it translated into online games… .either way, I feel like it’s too easy to abandon a game (from what I’ve read / currently experiencing).

How about having some sort of reputation meter (as I suggested earlier) where players who have a tendency to abandon games are given a low rating, where players who finish (regardless of win/loss) are given a positive rating. Then based on that certain rewards can be influenced or determined.

And 3 days may seem a little short, especially if one has the ability to have 20 games going at once. Still, having the potential of a 6 turn game go on for nearly 2 months seems a bit crazy to me.

Tons of good ideas. I like the repuation meter and sending warnings and being able to forfeit. The game itself is awesome.

BTW.

  • The idea of having the opportunity to have more than 20 games running sounds great!
  • Another idea, swapping game sequence so it is the oldest games first and newest in the bottom.
  • And possibly a numbering of the on going games.

I think limit of current games should stop creating new games only if player has a limited count of games witch are waiting his response.
If player do all turns and wait turn from another players then player can create new game.
If player have not answered by him games this player should not create new one. May be limit can be applied.
Active players who made turns on all games can create new one.

For example limit 5 and 4 games waiting my turn (answer) - I can start one more game (5th). If I try to create new one (6th) - I should make my turn on existing ones.
If I have no games waiting my turn (5-6 with active players and 10 abandoned games) then I can create more games and start play.

(Nooby.) #13

But for real fix this is what kills the game cause of this I made a new account cause I waited a week just to do one turn… Wtf all my slot where full and everyone gave up on try to win and there like this guys not going to win too so yeah fix that fast cause I really love this super awesome happy go Funtime of a game I think you guys should give someone a 3-2 day chance too make a turn or you lose anything more than 3 day would be too much for player to wait for a game like this cause for me the max amount of time it take me is 9 hour but that cause I went to bed so please do 3-2 day seem right cause who really want to come back to game after a week I forget a lot in a week and that we just kill if I have to wait week after week just to do a turn

(Bwade) #14

I would really love i mean really love a online mode where you have a time limit to make a move like 6 -10 mins at most that would let me play a lot more.

(tinker) #15

So to gather your suggestions ( and mine) for the devs

20 games with an expire after currently 4 (?!) days - are either not enough games or too long waiting time till they expire

how to change/ improve that:

  • more than 20 games
  • expire sooner : e.g. after 24hours(too short in my opinion) or 3 days
  • extra “game mode” : - either limit to answer is 6-10 mins
    - or a game mode where you stay in the game and the enemy has 1-2 mins to answer (pro mode)
  • being able to forfeit the game from the menu (even if you made the last turn)

other improvements

  • showing the number of on-going matches
  • listing the games in the game from newest to oldest
  • bad “effects” for players who do not respond games or auto-forfeit e.g. coin gain reduced for a few games / exp gain reduced for a few games
  • reputation meter: showing how long a player needs in average to answer the turns / how often his games expire
  • MAYBE a little bonus for players who answer rly quick (like 5-10 coins if you answer within … 1hour or something)
    - although I just read that boni decrease motivation : people who answer quickly get something for it so people who do not, say : I don’t answer quickly, it is not immoral since I lose my bonus.

a tip for players: we have threads where players who answer quickly are named. friend up and play mostly vs them.

I know this is an old thread but it seems more appropriate to post this here rather than start a new thread.

The 20 game limit combined with slow opponents is the only thing that bugs me about this otherwise great game. I have multiple people in my game queue right now that I am beating convincingly and they have dropped to taking one turn every three days. I don’t know if they are hoping I’ll forfeit to get rid of them but it’s driving me nuts!

Could we perhaps have an extra option in the startup sequence where we have to choose a map, then our toons? Let the new option be “Fast game” or something similar and have these games expire after one day without a turn. Players could choose “Fast game”, “Normal game” or “Don’t care” as options (similar to choosing a map or just accepting “Random”) and matchmaking would occur based on the option selected.

I think the 20 game limit would be much less of an issue if people could select a faster turnaround and those that like to think for 47 hours before committing to a move could still do so.

(Coup_de_grace) #17

If you are playing mostly 14pt games it will take longer time as you are very likely to be pared up with new players. They might be some who just want to try out the online game play or haven’t got “hooked” to this game yet to make their turns fast.
As you progress you could try playing 20 or 26 pt games as players who join/create higher tier games are generally more serious and make their turns more often. If that isnt good enough there is a thread on “very active player looking for a match” and you can add and invite them for a game as they are more active players. More experienced too, so expect to be DazZLeD…

Andy u can send me a request ill play u i have some set ups i havent used yet i wanna try if you r intrested my id is bwade

(Warchest_Andy) #19

Thanks, Bwade - I have sent a friend request. I’m sure I’ll regret this!

Multiplayer is the only way I can still earn coins so it gets a bit frustrating when my game queue is completely bunged up with folks who aren’t actually playing the game…

(Warchest_Andy) #20

Lol, now I understand all the references to Gus pushing Juan around! I’ll tee up a rematch later and pay more attention to where Juan might suddenly teleport to!

Thanks for the quick game and the valuable lesson!
