Hi all, i just purchased 4 Quake Enemy Territories for me and my kids. We play a assortment pf fps games, and play aot of lan games. Most we playare relatively easy to set up server, internet/lan, but unless im blind, i am totally dumb founded as how to set up and run a server on Quake. I appologize for the ideot question, but there you have it. someone please tell me how to put up a server please… thanx for your time.
Help for a newbie .....
im pretty sure the server data isnt on the disk you have to download it off a site in the splashdamage game-downloads links here: http://www.splashdamage.com/node/57
k, i olny see one windows server link, and this has me confused “Get this file if you wish to run a dedicated server for Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars without requiring a game installation.” … makes me think you have to run a dedicated server all the time, and what bout the Lan games …
how you gonna run Lan games going throughthe net and a dedicated server ?
Look in your install directory. There’s a “serverlauncher.exe” for hosting LAN servers. If you want your own online server, you would need to pay for one from a host. Otherwise, there are plenty of empty servers online if you don’t want the remaining QW community to tarnish your children .
sweet man, i downloaded the stand alone file, but didnt know what to do with it. we will go to internet and play together, and Lan alot of other times. thanx for the info Inf3rno, maybe ill see you in the game sometime
Cool to see you gaming with your kids. It’s hard to play ETQW on LAN with just 4 people, although I suppose you can enable bots and have them fill in, but it’s just not the same. That said, as you guys are learning the game it will probably be fun for the four of you to go up against a team of bots on land (co-op play I guess), but as you improve you’ll probably end up having more fun on line so long as you are playing on a well administered server (most which are populated are adminisetered pretty decently).
How old are your kids?

How old are your kids?[/QUOTE]
This can be taken out of context sooo easily teehee.
…yeah, so let me say: Got two boys myself, 15 and 16. We have a number of guys in Geezer who’s kids play with Dad (no moms though), including DoeJoe from our now defunct comp team (Brigand’s kid). LilHillbilly and Talon are Hillbilly’s kids. I’m sure there are a lot more. I just think it’s cool because often gaming can isolate you from the rest of the family (you’ve got a headset on and you’re pretty much ignoring everything around you except the game you’re playing).
And yeah, I know you were joking
Sandtiger, are your kids better than you yet? If not, it’s only a matter of time.
