hello, i have enemy territory installed on my computer. I just play at one maybe 2 servers, Im in a clan and was advised to reinstall the game. the following is a quote from a leader of the clan, a friend and server. I might need more help with these instructions, so i figured i would let you see his advise.
I would recommend reinstalling ET in c:\Program Files\Enemy Territory and copy spqradmin from your old installation ETMAIN into the new one. Then copy the old ET.KEY from ETMAIN folder to the new installation.
Connect to SPQR server with the freshly installed game in Program Files and wait till downloads are all complete.
Try the Medpacks and if it is better keep playing the new installation. Better hold on to the old one a little longer for backup. If the new one is not better than the old game installation, you might have a firewall or viruskiller running in the background, or you might have been infected with spyware or a keylogger. Do a sweep with antispyware software like “spybot search and destroy” , “spysweeper” or “hitman pro” . In fact do this before you reinstall ET. ialready deleted 70 somethin files in et pub, that i didnt need cause after that it still worked. But took a long time and hard to find out which ones i needed.
It could be what is causing your problem come to think of it.
Another culprit can be lack of memory. All these pk3 files will be loaded into ET on startup. The fresh installation will have only the essential pk3’s installed so if this is what is causing your problems, the fresh install into a different folder will cure that. If you insist on having your game in desktop study the directory list of the fresh install and create a folder in the old etmain and call it “unused pk3”
move all the unused pk3’s into that folder so you will end up with a directory list that is identical with the fresh install.At last do a /set com_hunkmegs to half of your physical RAM . If you have 1GB RAM do /set com_hunkmegs 512
if you have 512 RAM do /set com_hunkmegs 128
Videocard can be spiked up by /set com_maxfps 300

But i managed to load my et main up with unneccessary files. Im having trouble passing out health in the game, when i hit my button it only works when it wants to, same with my field ops air strikes or ammo packs . Theres almost like a long delay? Im also really laggy. sorry for the long post but like i said i wanted u to see the whole picture, as i might need further assistance. my computer system is microsoft windows xp> hp pavillion>amd athlon 3000+>2.10Ghz, 448 Mb of ram…whatever that means lol
